    USMNT slide

The USMNT continues to slide. Yes, they had a feel good win VS Mexico recently, but did not even make Olympics themselves. The USMNT is barely in position for a 2014 World Cup berth at this point... in a pretty weak group.

U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann claims the team has too many players trying to show off and not enough team play.

IDK if it's the players or coaching or both, but the performance is disappointing at best.

So this is the same guy that says the Academy programs need to be more like the rest of the world's approach for training. Why is it we can't compete with the rest of the world. Hell even the Jamicans were able to learn to bobsled fast than the USA can catch the rest of the soccer world. I wonder how Jamica's youth academies operate.

What is the ratio of skill to athletics in bobsledding? How about soccer?

The US problems are a result of a sucky youth system and poor coaching. The women's side has the same problem, but than so does most of the competition they play and that is why they have had more success. However, if you look at the technical and tactical problems of both US men and women, they are pretty much the same.

but the difference is some of the best female athletes in the USA play soccer, while most of the best male athletes in the USA play baseball, football, basketball or hockey.

Circle the date: October 16th at home against Guatemala. Lose and we may be eliminated from the 2014 tournament.

I wonder if Jamaica's best athelete's play soccer? Answer is NOPE, they run track.....So your excuse is irrelevant...I can't even imagine a 350 pound guy or 6'10 guy trying to play soccer.....

It could be very entertaining if they did lose and not qualify. How would anyone at US Soccer survive - not qualifying for the Olympics and World Cup in the same year?!?!

The game Tuesday in Columbus is by no means a gimmee. Reggae boyz will be coming is with allot of confidence. I dont believe Donovan or Bradley are playing

I blame Bob Bradley. Just kidding.

For all those who blamed Bob Bradley before he was fired, you were wrong. And I don't think its the strategy or the formation or ...

The players they have right now, just aren't that talented and, for the most part, the coaches are going with the best players available.

That's the problem here in the US....instead of looking for athletes , coaches should be looking for soccer players...a big difference

Please. don't go that route. You only expose your lack of knowledge when you do. Plus we've ben through this same argument a hundred times.

What you apparently don't recognize is the fact that the women with the best athletes but playing the same kind of soccer as the men with lesser athletes, at least according to you. That's the problem with soccer in this country. Athleticism is just fine. It is the technical and tactical part of the game that sux.

I see huge improvement at younger ages. The US has a huge potential pool of players, but the ID process is totally flawed. There is no reason that the U17, U20 and U23 teams shouldn't be competitive.

The system is broken. Too much politics. The developmental system is flawed, the ID system is flawed and the whole house needs to be swept clean.

Too much of what happens is for the glory of adults who are living through the achievements of children.

I don't have any answers, but it is clear that the current system is broken.
