My son's teams are playing NECSL and noticed that 3 teams relegated, and 3 teams promoted from fall to spring. I never saw this in the NPL in the same soccer year! So definitely welcome the change!

This is definitely also done in the NEP, not sure about NPL. But again... stop comparing the two leagues.... they are fine and provide a "place" for kids to compete at a level that is above town and below MLS/ECNL/GA.

Family budget and youth soccer in Mass are never used in the same sentence…getvreal

"Winning" to me means putting in the hard work and developing as a player regardless of the W's and L's at U12. Often, development actually means trying something new and losing, not doing the same old thing and winning (until you don't). Do you see how that makes game wins at GU12 not actually important?
I completely agree. Creativity comes from try/fail ....just like when playing street or "after-school" soccer. You tried skilled things and adjusted your learning based on if your skill worked or didn't work. If a kid is worried to try something risky because coach might sit them on the bench for failing ...then that kid won't make it very far.

Some club coaches need to get W's for the club because their record depends on their marketing to parents. To get those W's, those coaches might sit a kid for trying a risky skill ....so the kid doesn't try to improve that risky skill in order to avoid being sat on the bench. Then that kid loses something far more valuable than a W.
