The fact is they aren't setting the world afire at any greater rate than any of the brutish untalented American kids you want to put down.
First of all, wasn't saying anything against tall skilled player, just responding to criticism that small players can't play high level- any sized player tall or short that is skilled can reach high level, and both tall or short can be quick/athletic. As for the latino player, in recent hers they have more represented at high level travel clubs, mls academies rtc with active outreach- as you know already if you follow youth soccer, there is active outreach- underrepresentatin on colleg soccer teams have been historically due to other issues such as not being as visible in top travel clubs etc, inner city/ academic problems, lack of exposure to high level training at higher levels etc- all of this is changing in a big way so time will tell- on my kids team there are 2 of these kids who have been invited to national team level training , and they are not alone- ps my kid is short too, never got in the way of his success a high level, only thing that mattered was years of good technical training ( and trains on the side with ex pro international player that also not particularly tall, so don't believe your post)- of your kid plays on a team of truly skilled tall players, of course that coach will pick smaller players just as skilled if possession style team (unless low level run and kick coach, yes then tall and big only thing that's important)

Different is ignorant- just on our kids team there ate two smaller kids that train at US national level- a few more kids in our city who are small or average height got invited to academy try outs in the UK- my own kid trains on the side with an ex world cup player who is hotter thence and I'm 5 foot 10- so these are anecdotal stories from only my own experience so obviously many more similar stories across
The counntry- also all you have to do is turn on the tv and see
Top world players of different body types, so don't understand your prejudice at all-
That just proves my point. Its about skill not size saying you child was denied opportunities strictly because of size is a cop out.

The topic is sportsmanship and how to get it back into the game (and why it truly is important). The rest of this if for another thread. Do you think it CAN be imposed in Maple, NEP or other future leagues or at these young ages has it come down to winning and no real effort towards sportsmanship?

I saw a game at Citizens a few weeks ago looked like U11. The defenders were using both hands from behind to push players down when strikers were trying to receive the ball. This seems to be more of an issue with coaching and maybe refing than a League problem. Please don't give me the crap about the kids needing to be tougher I had no dog in the fight and this was U11.

Not to mention the "midget Latinos" comment. Barn door was obvious left open today...

Please see the video from the "Parents Brawl" thread and make another plea for the mandated sportsmanship from all involved in youth sports. Let's authorize the refs to give parents and coaches yellow - red cards?

                    More parent education is required

It is a shame that sportsmanship has really taken a back seat in youth sports. I'm not a soccer person but I am a soccer parent and I think educating parents via articles, videos and on site would help. just my thoughts...
