How many people went one tryout and how many went to more than one?

How many tryouts you go to depends on what you are looking for and what you just finished with. If you loved what you had then you are all set as long as you have a spot on that team. If not, then look elsewhere. The best scenario is one that combines great training with play time. One without the other is not worth the money that you will be charged. Playing for a weaker team (with good training) may be better if you are not going to get much game time on the stronger team.
