    College Cup

Darn it! I missed the college cup again! I guess Maryland won the final after UNC upset WF in the semis.

Amazing that there was not even a thread about the college cup on this site. All the energy and talk about strategizing and DAP and getting kids on the right clubs so that they get the right college looks or maybe a look straight away for a European league, and no interest shown in the actual college tournament?

Oh well, hopefully I'll remember to watch next year....

Saw first half. It was very windy. Teams struggled! Too bad because they couldn't put passes together and move the ball on the ground!!!

A few local kids played! Jeremy Hall and Zach McMath for Maryland. Eddie ababio and Brian Shriver for UNC. That is pretty good representation for the Tampa Bay area....

          Nice cheap shot by Williams.

It was on the borderline of soccer abuse, if this is the so called best level of feeder program to MLS there is no wonder why the standard of MLS is so bad. Ball control under pressure was unheard off in this game, the passing skills were atrocious. Just a display of soccer how it is not supposed to be played.

Hey, but it's all about winning. Not looking pretty.

But I agree with your assessment.

None of this is going to change until you change the mentality in this country toward youth sports. Whether teams play 8v8 at U12 matters little if the coach hasn't got a clue. Introducing the DAP matters little if coaches are still chosing boys based on the month they were born. The whole system revolves around producing players that can play the type of soccer you saw yesterday. No one gets rewarded for playing "pretty". They get rewarded for winning and it doesn't matter what age or gender you speak. Parents want to win now. Coaches want to win now. Winning now gets you into the big tournaments which get players into a college soccer program. You get what you pay for, so quit complaining.
