They did OK last year so why would they struggle this year. Has the division improved?
D1 will definitely be stronger this spring. Last year the Bolts were a cobbled together team that was really no better than most MAPLE D teams. Puma had an inexplicably terrible season and were relegated. Bruno tied the Bolts and beat Puma to give them 4 of their 8 points. This spring things will be tougher with the addition of two pretty good teams to D1 (Eagles and Crusaders) who by the way have higher MM ratings than Bruno. I have no idea whether the other returning D1 teams (Fuller, Inter, Scorps B, etc.) have changed significantly. Should be a competitive spring season.
With the absence of two Stars teams and the Scorpions Elite it will not be stronger but likely more competitive.

    Prediction:

    1. Aztecs (easily)
    2. Scorpions + Crusaders
    4. Hamlets
    5. Bruno
    6. Stars
    7. Eagles
    8. Inter

Positions 4-8 are tough to call.

Here's the MM ratings for U16 teams in Maple D1. Roster changes could significantly change these ratings.

      New England Aztec 1301
      Fuller Hamlets 1256
      Crusaders 1214
      Inter SC Boston 1184
      NE Eagles FC 1173
      Scorpions P 1141
      Bruno United 1055
      Stars of MA 901

        Re: CASL Girl's Showcase

Anyone have any thoughts on 2 teams from different age groups with the same MM rating and what would happen if they played?

        U16 Team A - 1200
        U15 Team A - 1200

How would a U15s rating translate in the group above or below?

No real answer I know but....

According to Mathman, the U16 Stars United are at about 1800 and the U15 Stars are at about 1700 -- as are the U16 Scorpions. The U15 Scorps are at about 1500 -- as are the U16 Stars Rovers. I assume the Scorpions entries have scrimmaged each otherand so have the three Stars teams. I've never watched any of these scrimmages although I've seen all five teams play. I'd say all the teams are competitive with each other (thats why they would be worthwhile scrimmages) but the U16 Scorps and Stars United are clearly better than the other three. I'd rate the U16 Stars United and U16 Scorpions as even with either team able to beat the other on any given day. Next would be the U15 Stars. They would probably lose to the better entries 7 or 8 out of 10 times but would beat the Rovers 6 out of 10 and the U15 Scorps 7 out of 10. The U16 Rovers are better than the U15 Scorpions and would beat them 7 out of 10 times but lose to the U16 United and U16 Scorps about 8 out of 10 times. The U15 Scorps might be able to beat the top two about once out of every 20 times they played. This is based on last year, so if any of the teams has gotten appreciably better, or worse, then things could change.

your analysis is way off base. stars utd spent an average of 1900 a family pertournament, as they generally chose an upgraded rental car.

From some statistical experiments (I don't generally include inter-age games, but sometimes do when a team plays up in a league), a one year age difference translates to about 200 points, so the 16 would, when it plays the 15, be playing like a 1400 U15 team, and the 15, when it plays the 16, would be playing like a 1000 U16 team. That corresponds, very approximately, to a 75% chance of the higher-rated team winning.

It is the Lunch Pail Gang, not Crew. Obviously a troll trying to stir things up and can't even do a good job of it.
