Free will, remember that one? This is a healthy, beautiful, successful athlete, and she CHOSE to do this. Good for her. She also wasn't the least bit worried about not having the chest measurements of the playboy bunnies all those juvie little boys (better know as US men) are all about. Nor was she concerned about the control freak jerks who get frantic every time a healthy, independent woman does what she wants with her own body. Women who fought to get the right to vote were called prostitutes too. Men always throw that one at women whenever they feel threatened. Sorry guys. The ownership thing is over. It's her body, she looks awesome. Go Alex!

How is she being exploited? She did this of her own free will.

Some of you people need to get off your high horse. Use the arrows to scroll through some of these images.

The human form is used in a lot of ways. Doesn't matter the gender actually. Images like this are like diarrhea, they come out, cause a reaction, and then are quickly forgotten.

One thing is pretty clear, the women of the world had better learn how to market their athletes because that is what is holding their professional level sports down. The money in sports has always been in the product endorsements. Sadly women don't want to buy products from famous women, in fact as this thread shows they want to attack them.

All dads with daughters should be cringing at this display. The fact she claims to have her family involved in this decision is shocking and deplorable. I raised my girl better!

Do you know that for a fact or are you pulling that out of you **s? As the above post is an example many of the negative posts are coming from men. My guess is the "this is art post" came from a woman. It's not "fine art" just "pop art". Too many here are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

The hookers and the porn stars have free will too, don't they?

Did she? She said, "Gee, I think I'll get naked and let some artist paint a bathing suit on me and maybe I can sell the pictures to SI"???

Ya, and ask yourself why women aren't interested in women's sports? Because what interests men do not interest women. That's why Playboy has a circulation of 1.5 million while Playgirl ceaseed publishing a print edition in 2008 and it now has a predominantly male audience.

So getting back to Alex Morgan, her marketing efforts are not aimed at a female audience, but strictly a male audience because SEX SELLS and women's sports has no other means to bring in the $$$$$$. Sad, but true.

Honestly, who do you think is calling Alex Morgan a whore? Do you seriously think a man is doing that? I am not saying that one or two men wouldn't have that sort of reaction but I seriously doubt that you can characterize that as a typical reaction amongst the male demographic group. Women on the other hand are extremely judgemental of other women. It doesn't matter if we are talking about 13-14 year old girls or 40-50 year old women. Anyone that sets themselves apart from their group get criticized harshly. This is a major problem for marketers because by definition any celebrity that is selling something is saying "hey look at me". You have to admit that women hate when another women does that. Men will by products pitched by either male of female celebrities but women typically won't buy products pitched by female celebrities. This thread is a perfect example of what happens, the product message gets lost amongst all of the judgement.

I agree with you last statement. This is a mountain out of a mole hill situation. It is merely a picture in a literal sea of similar images. All you have to do is google just about any celebrity and you can find worse. If the image offends you, the solution is to just don't buy what they are selling, that will actually have a greater impact than the whinning here.

Wasn't that the point. Women don't buy products the way men do but product endorsements are what fuels pro sports. Sex does not sell to the female audience yet we stupidly keep trying to do that. Sex only sells to men yet men are not going to be driven to female sports in enough numbers to really support them. You need females to flex their consumer muscles and support what female athletes are selling yet no one has figured out how to do that yet. What we get is Alex Morgan in a pretty tame painted on swim suit and people calling her a whore.

You are out of your mind if you think women are calling her a whore. That is almost exclusively a word used by men.

That's an emotional response, not a rational response.

Nah most women call them skanks. Ever listen to your teenage daughters talk to their friends? Skank is mild.

No, it is a very realistic response. There was no other reason for a SI model to appear in paint other than for the titillating value the process brings to the pages of SI. I would go a step further too, to suggest that those who agreed to pose in paint were given additional monetary incentive to do so. Otherwise all the models would have appeared in paint. Amazing what some will do for a buck, isn't it? All that time and effort for a photo that looks like an every day swimsuit. So why would you want to stand there naked why a total stranger applies paint to your private parts if in the end it looks like a swimsuit that would take just seconds to put on?

Funny, that these ads got pulled for being "sexist".

                                http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz1mTTTnjTv

How are these ads sexist? Weren't these professional models exercising their free will?
