Soccer Night In America Special - Fox Soccer TV

Fox Soccer TV had a two hour show last night "Soccer Night In America Special- Soccer In The U.S:The Next Steps". It was live panel/room discussion at the Annual NSCAA Convention billed as the "Largest Gathering of Soccer Coaches In The World".

Came in a bit late but they were discussing youth sports/development including the HS vs DAP only issue and then got into college players, various styles of play, etc.

Airing again today at 3:00 and tonight at 11 in case anyone's interested.

On DAP v HS issue, most of the speakers tended to be in favor of options and alternative paths - eg playing HS may be right for some players, including those with college and/or pro aspirations. Based on this, hard to understand why DAP clubs would prohibit players from playing HS rather than merely encouraging them not to.

Just wondering, did most of the discussion take place from the perspective of the boys side?, because as you know, TS readers are really only interested in the girls side!

Yes, mostly the boys side. There was at least one girls/women's panel, but not very illuminating; not that any of them really were.

The elitist attitude to HS vDAP took a beating!

It does show you that very few people really care about the health of soccer in this country. Ibet very few folks even bothered to watch this show. Too bad, as it adressed a number of issues that have been hot button ones on this forum.Iwould like to thank the OP for bringing it to our attention. As i said, too bad nobody bothered to watch!

Folks here believe whatever they need to believe in the moment. If DAP is mandating that its players give up HS soccer then HS soccer will be trashed. But if there is a reprieve, do you think those same critics will now forego HS soccer on principle??? Heck no, and they are probably the same folks battling behind the scenes to make sure they don't have to give up either one.
