    Preliminary Spring Maple Brackets

Preliminary spring Brackets are up on Maple website.

Right now it doesn't look like there is a mass exodus of Clubs to NEP that many suggested would occur for spring 2012. Stars, Scorps and NEFC still appear to be maintaining a presence.

I don't think that the NEP was even admitting new clubs for the spring, so an exodus was never going to occur anyway.

I think the understanding was always that the clubs you mention would put their top teams in NEP and leave their next tier of teams in MAPLE. So no, there is likely not going to be a further mass exodus of clubs from MAPLE, but the exodus of talent from MAPLE (in the form of top teams from these clubs) has already very much happened, and is what will define MAPLE going forward.

News Flash -- the top level talent in NEP is pretty sparse as well, at least in the age groups I watched. Problem is not MAPLE or NEP it is the overall watering down of Club soccer environment in general.

          interesting

There is an Under 12 Boys 8 v 8 bracket (only one team in it - Valeo)

It's way too early to jump to any conclusions about the maple divisions.

The application just went online, so new teams added and folded are not reflected.

Additionally, NEP only accepts clubs in the summer. Some clubs on this list had their applications denied.

There are now 104 clubs listed in the MAPLE leagues.
This number is up from 70 a few years ago.
Where the heck do they all come from and how many have only a couple of teams?
I see that the 8 v 8 U12 division was not very popular.

Is there really a u16 club team for Scorpions to play in D2?

How can it be sparse if all the top clubs in New England went to NEP and brought their best teams there. That statement doesn't make sense. Look at the over 100 teams in Maple and let me know how many clubs have more than 10 teams on that list. I am going to guess it may only be 10-15%. If your team got accepted to NEP, would you say "No" I am staying in Maple? I bet you that 30-40% of those teams on that list came from MASC. Maple will always be in business because NEP will never take the sub-par clubs. That is reality!! NEP is the 1st Division and Maple is Divison 2 (Minor Leagues). Who are you excited to play every week, teams like FC United, Victoria FC, Brazil United or 2nd and 3rd tier stars, scorps and NEFC teams and all these other people who want to come to Maple with 1 team. Our team played a good team every week in NEP and they were all pretty competetitive teams. I know I want my daughter to play the best teams and not 2nd and 3rd rate teams.

Yes, the team from the west.

The application deadline isn't until tomorrow.

I just looked at most of the divisions and I will say that not many teams from scorpions, stars and NEFC are listed. They have plenty of teams in the U10 division but I think becasue NEP is 6v6 and I am not sure but I think Maple U10 is 8v8. I will say that teams don't want to filed 6v6 teams becasue they can't make money with 10-11 players on a team. they want to play 8v8, so they can collect as much as they can and have 13-14 players on the roster.

Look at Stars, NEFC and Scorps and look and see where the majority of the teams are? The yarein U10 and U11.

Perhaps you missed my point. I am saying that NEP competition was weak, at least for GU13 this past Fall. The Top Stars team did not play, but even if they had it would have produced, at most, 3 challenging matches in an 11 game schedule. Sounds like the same deal as MAPLE D1 last Spring. So top clubs may have moved stronger teams to NEP, but (a) not all moved and (b) not all were particularly strong.

Agreed and the point made in post #7 further illustrates the problem. Having way too many clubs operating in the area works against achieving a reasonable and desirable concetration of the talent pool. Unfortunately, that horse is out of the barn.

ODP is hopefully where you can pull these good players together. Too many clubs are spreading out the talent.

Not all top teams went to NEP. In fact some clubs it was the reverse.
