ok - that's not what it says on the USSDA webpage, but I suppose you know and they screwed it up in the game report. What's with these other DPs - I understand how a few high school stars can be overlooked and allowed in this first year of 10 month, but it seems the bolts are letting almost anyone who skipped out this Fall slime their way back in. Anyway, the kids who made the sacrifice (a pretty big one for the pair from Needham) need to have a thick skin to stick with DAP, so nobody should complain (I guess)....

I am not a DAP parent, but what is the big deal and why are you upset about some of the DAP players coming back from the high school season. They negotiated a deal and got it. The others who did not want to play high school were able to get some playtime while the starters were out. Now they are back. This is real world!!

I think the DAP recognizes that they need to go through a high school generation (2-4 years) before the 10 month/no high school idea is solidified.

I do agree that if you are playing DAP then you need some thick skin and a realization that your playtime might not be what it would have been on a non-DAP team where you were the star. This is why it is important to think long and hard on what you are giving up and what it is you hope to get out of it. If you are not playing in the games that much, then I would advice you to consider other options.

MS scored 2 goals in his first game back on Friday. With him, NP and MDC and TG. The Bolts will have a very strong team come spring. The 4 of them will compete with each other for playing time due to their lack of committment to the team this past fall

Correction: The 4 of them and ALL the other players on the DAP roster will compete for playing time because that's what it's all about. It's not about hurt feelings because one kid made a choice different from another. That's what TS is all about!!!!

You sound like you have a good grasp of the concepts that many parents do not. Well said on all points.

I know some of the guys on the team think they play better without MS and NP. It's the style - these big fast target guys sit up there. They liked the better up top passing game they had in the Fall without them. I don't think anybody really cares about MS starting - it's up to him to produce and things will be fine if he doesn't get in the way of AA, who is scoring most of the goals. And I think MS will produce goals - its just the style of play isn't as good with this kind of player, and I'd guess he might not really improve the team - he's played three games and no goals yet....

MS has learned bad habits blowing through soft HS defenders. Sounds like it also works in DAP some. When he gets to Providence and plays in the Big East, I'll predict that mostly won't work any more. He will have to start moving the ball around more if he wants to collect some points. BTW is NP back with Bolts? Don't see him rostered.

MS has learned bad habits blowing through soft HS defenders. Sounds like it also works in DAP some. When he gets to Providence and plays in the Big East, I'll predict that mostly won't work any more. He will have to start moving the ball around more if he wants to collect some points. BTW is NP back with Bolts? Don't see him rostered.

Such class here....yes the bad habit of scoring in a pressure situation for the state championship...needs to back pass more in those situations. Dream your dreams of greatness some actually achieve it.

You miss the point. A kid does what he needs to do to win. Good for him. Congrats. Next question is is he learning to play the game in a way that will help him at the next level? That's a developmental question.

I'm used to DAP defenses really punishing that type of play, but MS and NP are a pretty imposing pair to stop. Even at DAP level the coaches will tolerate what gets them goals and W's. Interesting the earlier comment about the kids preferring not to play that way, because at that level most of the kids know what a good offense should typically look like.

Last year, in U16, NP scored a lot - against very weak teams - and very little, against good teams. The U18 with MS seemed to fall apart after a good early start (that was the first 3 games?). I think these guys are great - I sure as hell wouldn't want them coming at me - but I think quick passing up top is more effective, and their teammates seem to think that too. That doesn't mean they don't appreciate that these guys are beasts. I think AA is a lot better and bet that the NT coaches would see it that way too.

I am a local coach who has seen MS play for many years. He has some really bad habits that I would find very difficult to coach but he is a huge target with some really exceptional skills. I do not know the new coach at Prov but he has coached the Bolts in the past and know what he is getting as a player. If they play to MS strengths, he will do very well in the Big East.

It is one thing to have a talented team on paper and another to have it on the field. The latter is where a good coach comes in. The question here in is whether or not the Bolts have a good coach to put the team together. They had a chance at having that when Durkin was going to be the coach, however, he is gone.
