The point is there are a lot more knowledgable coaches at And Again then you will find here.

Myself and other posters merely have pointed out the inherent internal contradictions in the OP's posts.

Please understand the sequence and logic (or lack thereof) of threads before you ever post another word again.
For OP: I would suggest looking at maybe Holy Cross, Northeastern and maybe the lower Ivy's like Harvard or UPenn. Good luck.

Rather, they're putting this kid down. From the way you guys are talking, it only makes you out to be a jealous *****. From what I've read, this player "SEEMS" to be one of the better players in MA. If he's looking for a low D1 level school, it means he's better than most DAP players in MA (most DAP players do end up in low D1 schools or high D3 schools).

"He'll improve in college. I think that's what he's ultimately going for. His improvement in college may lead to a transfer to a tier 1 school and then maybe play professionally. We're not disillusioned either. I know where my son is able to play, and where he cannot. He is not a DAP player, but he attended tryouts for 3 DAP teams in the area where he made the cut for 2 out of 3. He ultimately decided that the travel/practices will take up too much time and decided that playing on his club team will lead to a more balanced soccer resume (good GPA, good SAT scores, good ECs, and pretty good exposure to college coaches considering it's a club team).
If nothing, he has safeties such as the NESCAC schools where he will have a 80%+ chance of getting in."
That is what got other people going. No one is putting the kid down. Maybe the kid really is high level D1 material, and maybe other coaches who SEE him (not hear about him on a soccer forum) will agree. No one here knows who the kid is. Posters merely pointed the illogical mix of statements by the OP himself in the post quoted above.
This is what it SOUNDS like to me. The OP, a very enthusiastic Dad, has believed for some time that his son is a high level D1 prospect. He recently got an objective opinion from a coach he respects and heard that low level D1 is more realistic. Who knows if the coach was softening the blow or not, or whether low level D1 is realistic. But let's assume that it is. Low level D1 is still quite an accomplishment, so congrats. No need to add all the other window dressing.
And to the last poster, you're joking right? Harvard is now a lower level Ivy? And UPenn? And you think the player SEEMS like one of the best in MA? Based on what detailed info or description are you coming to that conclusion? Because the Dad said the was offered spots at 2 out of 3 DAP teams? You'd think you would draw more of a conclusion about what is going on here based on the data that the Dad did take him to 3 different DAP tryouts, and had a coach evaluate his kid for him, and supports the idea of a college transfer, and has a focus on soccer to the point that a possible NESCAC matriculation will eventually lead to a pro career.

New poster I am a parent of several children who have played college ball. I understand that OP is asking about schools, but I have to agree with some of the comments made. I would never break my childrens dreams and would support them....but I, as adult, know the score. The sequence, while it could happen, is not reality.Coaches are pretty realistic at the higher levels and I have never heard of a top level coach saying such a thing. You want people to not comment on OP's comments? Really? Settle for Div 3? Nescac's are fall backs? 80 percent chance of getting in? My kids didn't play NESCAC, but they got into them. People should really do some research on the schools before making comments. I think that if you are going to throw comments out there, which OP did, he didn't just ask the Div 1 question, you need to be aware that some people have lived through all of this.

And about Harvard being a lower Ivy, go check their record the past two years. Very lackluster. I would say that Brown and Dartmouth are the higher Ivy schools for soccer.

And oh, you meant Harvard lower level Ivy FOR SOCCER? Not necessarily true most years, but let's say you are correct. Then Harvard should be easy for this kid to get in???

How hard is it for some of you to comprehend?
1. The coach who evaluated the kid seems to think he's capable of playing D1, but his best bet to actually PLAY is to go to a lower level.
2. The parent seems to think the kid is one of the better players in Mass even though he doesn't play DAP and he doesn't play DAP because the travel time would take up too much time. Whether he is or he isn't, the coach has confirmed he's good enough to play D1.
3. The kid has a goal of playing professionally and seems to understand to reach that goal you have to play in the top tier of D1, so he's willing to start in a lower tier D1, prove himself, and than transfer.
4. The parent is willing to support son's aspiration, but seems to understand getting a good education is important thus the original question: "What are some of the Division 1 soccer schools that are very good academically but not as good at soccer as the top tier schools such as BC, UNC or Duke?"
So far no one has been able to answer that question, only insult the kid and the parent or make a case to support their own choices.
OP, go to http://andagain.websitetoolbox.com/?forum=1. There are coaches their capable of answering your question without bias.

If the OP's son is pretty good, he would probably be playing in some Thanksgiving tournament outside of Massachusetts and hasn't had the time to go on Talksoccer like some of you pathetic people.
Also, Harvard doesn't accept players who are good on the field but bad at school for your information. From the information OP gave us, we can deduce that his player is pretty good (not national team level, but good) but we have no idea about his scores; we do know he's looking for a good academic school though.

Any parent who posted what this guy did in starting this thread and replying as he did later has checked in to see the posts....even if he is watching his play over Thanksgiving in Argentina.
It's weird that you don't think the guy who posted about transferring to a top D1, playing pro, and NESCACs as safety all in the same post is the OP. I admit I can't get my head around where you are coming from on that.
In terms of your last sentence, a lot of have an idea what we're looking for but that doesn't mean we'll get it.

You think mentioning NESCAC in the same breath with professional aspirations makes sense?
You think it is likely to be evaluated, perhaps generously, as a low level D1 player, and then improve enough to be a star at a top D1? Because after all I'm sure you would concede you have to be a top player at a high level D1 to have a prayer at professional soccer.
What question exactly is he going to get answered at andagain.websitetoolbox.com???
