Do what is in the best interest of your child and your family. Traveling 2 hours 3-4 days a week can put a HUGE strain on your child and your family. Consider ALL aspects when you choose a team.

SDA, you have many very skilled players. They may not all be on the same team and thus, the club doesn't get the recognition it deserves, but most SDA players consistantly have a solid skill base, and the ability to read the field and play as a team. Don't listen to the big club snobs.
You must be kidding! VSA? C'mon buddy you must not have been exposed to much or your one of the VSA coaches in attempt to self promote!

Does this mean Western will have to make C and D teams to make room for the Pioneers players?

The merger would make sense for Western as they have no true facility. That said there is alot of bad blood between some of the teams at the U11-U14 level as far as coaches leaving and taking players on both sides. Would make sense overall and would pool alot of talent but based on the history with these two clubs I cant see it. Time will tell.

Agreed, but there are lots of egos involved and very different cultures. It could work but would take a very talented person to steer both clubs through the icebergs. Pios do have a decent complex, but last few times we played WU we were at that private school with a very nice turf field. I think they are using that place more and more and it is a good facility to have.

I was wondering how long it would take the SW/RL haters to hijack this thread. Page tow...you ladies are losing it.

I am not your buddy, and I am not kidding. I am not a VSA coach, or parent. I have been in and around club soccer for many years, and have seen A LOT of good and bad coaching.

Please re-read my post and how it relates to the way this topic was evolving. I am not saying that VSA as a whole is among the top rated western MA clubs. The discussion had turned to finding the best club for your player and family.

So...again, I will emphasize my point...even the big clubs like Stars have some really bad coaches. When you are looking for a club or team for your child, find the coach and situation that will suit the needs and desires of your player and your family.

Buddy or not I do not disagree with your opinion of the coaching staff at VSA! I to have been around the club seen for quite sometime and to say they have 2 of the best coaches around is just plain silly. However I do agree that you should find the best coach/situation for your child. I also agree that there are good and bad coaches at every club. Some a lot better than others! I would also say that it is not only the coach you should be looking for but what your Childs dev needs are!

                      best coach

The best coach, by far, is not in any of the clubs mentioned here. My daughter plays for him and it has been a blessing. The guy has character, knowledge, and experience, success too. I won't mention his name, but if you know soccer in western mass, you know who he is.

Why not share? Age level? Initials? Keeping him all to yourself?

If you are talking girls, the U15 Pioneer team from last year coached by CM went to SW as a team...complete with coach. Too bad for those girls. Many have played with CM since U12. There is a lot to be said for team unity and loyalty, but I also think that players need different coaches along the way. Anyway, good luck to them all.

CB who has coached with VSA since the beginning, or close to it, is one of the best coaches I have ever had the privilege of meeting. He understands the game better than many coaches I have dealt with and he knows how to teach and work with the kids. He is a class act who really cares for the kids and their future.
