If you are heading east of Worcester, try taking 395 instead of 84 and pick up the Mass Pike at Auburn. Much easier than going through Hartford and getting hung up at Sturbridge.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

We've taken the Orient Point Ferry to New London. Really pleasant ride out and you miss a lot of the bad 95 traffic, but you have to make your reservations in advance. I've got to admit, we have hit some rough seas now and then. The worse was a couple years ago when we couldn't get on the Orient Point ferry, but instead took the Bridgeport ferry. Ferry was definitely enjoyable, but it made the trip really long. We took the ferry to the point and all was fine. Others drove and got there super fast. Not sure what we'll do this year. Definitely...if you want to take the ferry you need to book ASAP.Comment

Travel time has been slightly longer, but sitting in one of the ferries reading a book and smelling the ocean air beats sitting in traffic, especially if there has been an accident.
