No one has said anything about scholarships, so these kids must have gotten into these schools for some other reason.

D3s don't get scholarships period for sports but can be recruited and get some admissions advantage.
D1s can be recruited and awarded some scholarship $.
D1s can be recruited and offered little to no scholarship money, and the Ivies, like the D3s, do not award athletic money.

If a D3 school wants your son they can do a lot to encourage you to attend. Including making sure the financial package helps out the student athelete in a big way.

[QUOTE=Unregistered;686121]Agreed, but I was responding to the poster who was questioning the legitimacy of the commitments by saying "No one has said anything about scholarships, so these kids must have gotten into these schools for some other reason." I was trying to point out that athletic scholarships are not the only measure of whether a kid was recruited for soccer and/or whether they will actually play soccer. There may be some kids who get listed who will not end up making it, but that doesn't mean they weren't recruited, and there definitely will be kids who do make it (at all 3 levels) who aren't awarded any official athletic scholarship money.
Where did all this players develop at the younger ages? I have a u10 player and want some quality training in a competitive environment.

Let's all have a little perspective please.
Not every kid "announces" where they have chosen to go to school.
Not every club publishes a list of where their players have chosen to go to school.
Not every kid on the ESPN Rise site was recruited to play soccer at the schools they chose to attend, and not every kid that sends an e-mail to ESPN Rise will play soccer for the school they are attending.
Not every kid listed on a club's web site will appear on the roster for their school.
Please stop considering the ESPN Rise site as a complete list of players who were recruited to play college ball.
Please allow for the fact that some kids choose not to make any public pronouncements about where they have chosen to go to school.
Please also consider that some kids choose a school based on academics, and may choose to not play or to go through the open tryout process.
There seems to a lot of needless infatuation with where kids are going to school.

If that is how you feel, then why are you participating in this thread?

While I sort of agree with the points made by the poster it is true that this whole site (not just this and similar threads) would not continue without the college info and college discussions, because ultimately 90 per cent of the site is about college, allowing 5 per cent each for professional and high school and below play.
