Seems a player listed with UMass is missing as well, although there is a 2nd Sandwich player not listed above who is listed on the UMass roster.

Note this article. I can see he's not on the roster, but they don't have the full 29-30 players listed. They also have a walk on tryout on 9/4 to add roster spots. Perhaps he's on the bubble and must beat some of the walk ons to make the team. Do you know more? I checked Big Blue to see if Chaka snapped him up . Not there.

I would not have believed it if I hadn't actually clicked on the second link: National Letter of Intent Signees for JUNIOR Colleges? Seriously?

(Don't get me wrong...good to see a kid go to college...any college...but NLOIs for a junior college "commitment"?)

Everybody's got to have a way to feel special.

How about Division II National Christian College All-American?

Initial Report 2012 MA Div 1 Boys in College

                  Total D1 2012 Boys 28
Number of available games to date 124
% of those games MA boys played in 45%
Number of MA boys to play in 75% or more of their team's games 12
Number that only played in some games 6 (plus the 12)
Number that have not yet played 10
Number of goals scored by them in the 124 games 2
                  Number of assists 6

Initials of the 12 playing 75% or more

                  OW,CR,DB,PA,JM,LO,DD,MA,FM,MA,CB,PE

Note: FM, an upper class transfer, has 1G/5A so he has most of the points.

This once again shows how hard it is to break in , although I would say for this year that more kids are playing than any other year for the years I've done this. GL to all.

Lots of players with no club affiliation listed. What's up with that? I thought you had to play club to play college soccer?

You do...99.9% did play club. Original poster didn't research all the players to put the Club name on the list. If you do the research then you will hit the 99.9% played Club.

and some of these are walk-ons that made the team, which is to be commended, but I think falls outside the original focus of this thread "2012 Verbal Commitments".

                          Not a big deal.

what is worth knowing, and harder to follow, is how many will earn time, how many will play four years, how many will make meaningful contributions to the College teams play.

Historically, this has been an extremely small percentage of players from a year (2012 in this case) player pool in Mass.

I will say I am impressed by the number of players listed, and the quality of the ones I have seen..
What is harder to judge is how they will fair over time in the extremely competitive world of collegiate soccer. as stated, Mass is not usually well represented.

and when you think about how these players would stack up against "world" players not just US (or primarily US I guess in college play), it really shows how far behind we are.

On the thread "Is there a list? Class of 2013" down below, one poster looks at BU/BC boys and sees that only 5 of 15 remain on the rosters as Soph/Jun Seniors, and of those 5, only a couple are still playing. I think that makes your point. And both those teams have a lot of international players.

The international players are the factor that most parents dont
take into account. Most of the better programs have a lot of
                              international player starting.

So regarding the much discussed EMass All-American designees, the player at UPenn from Concord-Carlisle does not appear on the roster, and the other player from Canton is having a very strong frosh season at D3 WPI.
