    OMG!

It is an obvious foul which results in a 15 yard penalty and a jump ball

one of the parents yelled out to one of their defenders
to not worry about an attacker because she was
"offsides". the offensive player was about 10 steps
behind the back line. the ar turned to the parent
and corrected him telling him to get it right that
she was in the offsides "position". guys like that
think they are gods correcting parents on the sideline
and fail to see that some of their peers really suck.
while we were watching the referee missed at least
3 fairly significant calls. one should have been pk for a
take down in the box and a possible red card because
the offensive player was injured and had to be carried
off the field. bet you that ar feels holier than thou though
Ref is correct but should speak to crowd.....

First of all, the ref was right. The player was in the off-side position. Second, it is off-side and not off-sides. Third, the only think I agree with (sort of) is that the Ref should not even waste time talking to parents on the side-lines at all......unless to have them ejected/removed from the area.

If I were to guess, most parents do not truly understand the off side rule at all. As this is the case and is reflective of the lack of understanding that most parents have of the rules of soccer, then I would venture to say that your statement that the ref missed any calls is probably equally incorrect.

The rules of soccer are not always followed to allow the game to played without interrupting the flow and respective of possession of the ball. Clearly, Flagrant (spikes high; player without the ball; pulling them down from behind; purposeful handballs) fouls should be called. Many others are subjective to the interpretation of the referees.

not one to piss about officiating like these U12 parents
but this was really a dangerous tackle. kid came in
from the side. didn't get the ball at all and sent the
attacker head over tail. resulted in a real nasty spill.
if not red certainly a yellow. need to send message
that is not acceptable play. came after a string of hoots
from the crowd about trips and physical play. referee
appeared rattled. just found it irritating that you have
one official criticizing parents in such a condescending
way while another is struggling to control a game. it was
sad because the kid had a clear shot and would have
easily scored if she hadn't been clipped. game ended 0-0

A yellow card is used to sanction either reckless or unsporting conduct (amongst other things that don't apply here).

Red cards are used to sanction violent conduct.

Red card tackles usually involve combinations of the following components:
                1. Speed of play and the tackle
                2. Intent
                3. Aggressive nature
                4. Position of the tackler
                5. Opportunity to play the ball
                6. Atmosphere of the game

As a parent where do you get off trying to judge a referees competence or commenting on their performance during a game. Perhaps officials should comment on your parenting skills based on the way your kids play and act on the field. Please tell me where you work so I can stand behind you and point out every mistake I think you make even though I probably don't have the slightest clue what your responsibilities are.

a parent--not a ref--but totally agree. I think spectators need to realize that the refs are doing the best they can. They are human. They make some great calls, and miss some. So what? Are refs perfect? of course not, but neither is anyone else. To post a video and then rip the officials like this is ridiculous. And to hear a parent yelling a call to a ref is absurd. If you want to make the calls become a ref, otherwise sit down watch/enjoy the game.

I think the most ironic part of showing this video is that the parent is actually showing that he doesn't belong on the sidelines of a youth sporting event. In effect, he is calling on us to rip him as much as he wanted us to rip the ref.

If this happened the way you described then it's a automatic red card and a PK.

Not when the ref is some quack who is clearly violating the LOTG many times during the game. The video points out one referee gaff but just touches the surface of many much worse calls in youth soccer. Not all parents are ignorant about the LOTG/ATG as some arrogant pompous asses on this forum would like to think.
