The camera man should have been tossed for addressing the ref. Probably went on all game and influenced the call not going the way he wanted.

Agree.....First, I wonder if kids are learning some bad habits (i.e. diving, falling, crying foul, acting to get the call) from many of the professional leagues (I blame the italians most). Second, we should be teaching the kids to get up quickly and get on with the game. One fact of soccer is that refereeing is lest than perfect at the highest levels. What do you think it is at the lower levels?? As for this case, I can see the ref making the call based on whether or not he felt the defender was going for the ball or the player. In these cases it isn't clear from the angle that we see if the ball wasn't hit first. Who knows, maybe the Ref might have consider the play different if it wasn't in the penalty box.
What is clear is that the sideline videographer was not happy with the ref. What is clear is that the offensive player went down twice (good efforts to keep the ball and good hustle), but then failed to get back up quickly and get back into the play of the game.
What is very clear is that this is U11 or U12 soccer in a pre-season tournament for which nobody outside of Lancaster Mass was really that concerned about. I hope all the involved parents can overcome these life changing events and enjoy the Labor Day Weekend.

We welcome new referee recruits here
http://www.massref.net/Central/courseofferings.cfm
After taking the course, you will then know the rules and realize that it is much easier to criticize a ref while sitting in a lawn chair rather than running around a field watching 22 players.

Trying shutting up and cheering from the players.

tell you how pompous some of these officials are.
i was watching thenefc vs scorpions u14 game.
one of the parents yelled out to one of their defenders
to not worry about an attacker because she was
"offsides". the offensive player was about 10 steps
behind the back line. the ar turned to the parent
and corrected him telling him to get it right that
she was in the offsides "position". guys like that
think they are gods correcting parents on the sideline
and fail to see that some of their peers really suck.
while we were watching the referee missed at least
3 fairly significant calls. one should have been pk for a
take down in the box and a possible red card because
the offensive player was injured and had to be carried
off the field. bet you that ar feels holier than thou though

I really hate being a parent because I have to belong to the same group as these idiots on the sidelines.
