I thought I'd start a thread for discussions of U12 Boys teams this season. NEP and Maple (I figure by this age, we know teams in both leagues, teams play each other in tournaments, etc.). Which teams do people think will be strong? Who will surprise us? Have any teams changed over the summer? Keep it positive and let's hope for a great season for all the kids.

Blazers are the team to beat in Maple (or anywhere). Vikings and Cosmos are strong as well. MPS Bulldogs in NEP. NEP looks more competitive this season. Should be some good match-ups.

The Bolts second team beat the Cosmos in the Needham tourney, so how good is the Blue Division in MAPLE?

Unless they meet in a tournament, you will not see MAPLE-NEP match-ups. There is no State Cup at this age. Regardless, I would submit that the U12 NEP first division is equal or on par with the MAPLE Blue Division.

These boys regularly meet in tournaments, including this weekend at Stars Cup. Looks like Blazers are dominating in 11 v. 11. Bolts in 8 v. 8 will face some real CT competition tomorrow. The Bolts vs. MPS game was surprisingly one-sided, but I suspect some of the best MPS players were away or something because they are a great team too.

Its the begaining of the season for all teams and use it was a warm up. MPS team had only two practices before this tourney. Close game against Oakwood 3 vs. MPS 2 and an enjoyable game to watch.

Does anyone know if the Vikings were missing a lot of players. They were beat pretty bad by Blazers and NEFC.

A CT team won Stars 8 v. 8 . Bolts were 2-2 at half ag. this team and fell apart in 2nd half. They were not playing their best (or even, by the second half, playing well). MPS handled that same CT team the day before better than Bolts did, but yet Bolts beat MPS handily o friday. Lesson for the MPS and Bolts boys? Nothing is guaranteed. A great rivalry (in the best sense with mutual respect for the most part).

I am surprised that the stars 1st team could not beat the Oakwood second team to advance to the fnals. The MPS team should have beating Oakwood first team, a close game, 2 to 3.
3 take downs of MPS players in the box, one should have resulted in a penalty direct kick, Oakwood got lucky with the ref the whole game.

Bandits Cup results not posted yet. From what I saw, Liverpool Red, Abbey Villa and James Bede were the best of the teams there.
