It's 3 games in 5 days. That's way different. It comes down to depth and match-ups. Playing Saturday afternoon and then again on sunday late morning is a tough turnaround for teams that play 13 or 14 kids. And if the weather is as cold as it is supposed to be in late November that just makes it harder.

How many schools only play 13 or 14?

Three games over 5 days is definitely not easy but some of the public schools have been playing that kind of schedule all fall. No, I don't mean regularly, but there are often weeks where there are 3 games scheduled and if some games get postponed it can even mean more than 3. A friend of my kid played 8 games in 10 days a couple years ago.

Nothing in there about " only". The point was kids as young as 13 and 14 are freshmen in HS and therefore can be on these teams.

original post was somewhat ambiguous. could be read either way. In context, I think you are likely wrong.

Yes, I think you're right. They were referring to the number of players, not the age of the players.

Private schools are not playing 13 and 14 year olds. I know some public schools do, but that isn't the case a private schools.

My player was 14 for most of his freshman year at an ISL school. Most of his classmates are his age. Though there are far more kids in private who have repeated a year than there are in public, it is still the exception, not the rule.

This post wasn't about age, it was about team size.

Anyone familiar with the western schools in Class A? I would think PAndover and PExeter are both in. How many from the ISL will make the playoffs? Probably Worcester and Nobles. Maybe the winner of the Milton/Brooks game??

                        The field:

                        Andover
                        Exeter
                        Nobles
                        Worcester
                        Brooks or Milton
                        Choate
                        Loomis
                        Taft or Greenwich Academy

Brooks finishes with St Pauls. Brooks should that one. Milton finishes with Nobles. It will get complicated if Milton loses to Brooks but beats Nobles.
Taft should get in if they beat KO and Hotchkiss.
Greenwich is 10-2-4 with a weak schedule. Several wins against C and D teams.

                        Seeding:
                        1Andover
                        2Loomis
                        3Choate
                        4Worcester

why would choate and loomis be ranked over worcester, who hasn't lost a game but both of choate and loomis have

My error. I Iisted the top 4 and did not spend much time ranking them. Top 4 get home games on Wednesday unless distancesare too great.

                              Here are the current standings.

Loomis and Choate are locks from the west. Greenwich schedule is strong enough, and they have shown they are competitive with a 1 goal loss to Loomis, tied Choate + Taft, beat Hotchkiss. Still think they are a bubble team and they are in should others falter.

Hotchkiss, Deerfield, and Taft need to win out to get any consideration. Remaining games favor Hotchkiss who have two tough ones versus Loomis and Porters. They win these two and they will be 10-5-1 and are in, possibly bumping Greenwich if the committee only provides 3 slots for the west, which is likely.

Assuming Exeter, Andover, Worcester and Nobles are in, that leaves only 1 remaining spot and a lot is riding on these last couple games. There are a lot of good Class A teams, and the committee will have some tough choices.

Taft has 3 games remaining versus Westminster, Kingswood and Hotchkiss, so they control their destiny should they win out.
