Agreed. Thayer has a losing record overall and in the ISL. No chance the committee looks at recent performance alone and even with that recent performance is is primarily ties.

Are people forgetting that there are schools beyond the ISL? Like schools in Western Mass and Connecticut?

This is the ISL Girls thread, thus the interest in the ISL girls standings.

But now we are talking about post season NEPSAC and for some reason some people think the ISLs on the bubble should be included. There are a lot of other schools out there that maybe more deserving. Perhaps you might do a little investigating before posting.

                Doubt Thayer is in.

Last year 4 of the 8 class B teams came from the west. Pomfret, Williston, Kingswood + Wilbraham, with KO winning. ISL teams knocked out early.

Here's the link to the current WWNEPSSA 2011 standings.

                http://wwnepssa.net/Results.asp?MyTe...g=wwnepssa.net

                My rankings as of 11/7.

#1. Wilbraham (Clear number 1. Skilled team. Speed + depth.)
#2. Pomfret (Weak schedule. Beat Porters + Kingswood. Tied Worcester. Only 2 losses.)
#3. Williston (Fading. Tied Pomfret. Beat Wilbraham + Berkshire. Strong D.)
#4. Berkshire (Improved steadily. Beat Loomis + Taft. Talented center mid + goalie. )
#5. Kingswood (Weak schedule. No quality wins. Tied Williston. Defending champs.)

Unfortunately the snowstorm disrupted many key end of season games. Doubt these will be made up. If Williston wins out versus NMH and Choate they will justify my 3 rank, but since they have been fading, have a .500 record, and trouble scoring goals, I agonized over them and Berkshire, only giving the nod to Williston because they play a tough schedule and beat Berkshire heads up. If Berkshire sneaks into the playoffs I wouldn't want to face them. They are athletic, have a game changing goalie, and arguably the most creative 2 way player in the league. They have shown they can upset anyone. Pomfret is the wild card. They can score, but I'm not overly confident they will advance in tight playoff soccer.

No, they don't think they should be included, they are wondering if they will be and are looking for information to support that. If you wish to do research please do investigate the records for all the top NEPSAC Class A and Class B schools and let us know how it looks for the ISL girls. If you have time, please do it for the boys as well. They are also wondering where they stand, though I don't think some of them even know which class they are competing in yet. Current info. for the ISL is hard to come by, and NEPSAC really doesn't do much to help.

Thanks, but no thanks. Those with kids who are interested whether their teams are in or not are the ones that ought to do the investigating. I already know where mine stands.

But those states have never been a factor on the girls side.

Selection and seedings take into account TOTAL record, not just ISL standings and results.
It's true, Lawrence did beat Govs on unmowed fields in 25 knot winds and pouring rain. As was said before, "bad weather evens the playing field". Maybe Govs should schedule Cushing - Marianapolis and Newton Country Day next year to improve their overall record. Hopefully the committee looks at common opponents and the picture becomes much clearer. There's a reason Govs is ahead in league points. Govs beat Groton head to head, so does that mean Lawrence should be ahead of them as well?

I agree. I would say Rivers - Governors - winner of Groton @ Lawrence Academy this Wednesday. Groton should offer to mow for them. ;-)

Not all of Gov's opponents are exactly giants. All might be a moot point after Lawrence plays groton wednesday.

Really shocked by your evaluations. I like hearing about the teams (skill, players, etc) but that is not the record and will not impact the selections particularly much at all as its records and level of competition played. Comments below:

                                My rankings as of 11/7.

#1. Wilbraham (Clear number 1. Skilled team. Speed + depth.) Not the first seed by any stretch of the imagination. 6-2-4 record. Only quality win is against Pomfret.
#2. Pomfret (Weak schedule. Beat Porters + Kingswood. Tied Worcester. Only 2 losses.) Clearly the number 1 seed of this lot and the number 2 or 3 seed in NEPSAC. 8-2-3 record. Only meaningful blemish is the loss to Wilbraham. Definitely the best record outside of Rivers and Winsor in Class B.
#3. Williston (Fading. Tied Pomfret. Beat Wilbraham + Berkshire. Strong D.) An off year for them at 5-3-4. No quality wins. Ties against top teams.
#4. Berkshire (Improved steadily. Beat Loomis + Taft. Talented center mid + goalie. ) 6-5-1 record. Not impressive at all. This is why Governors is on the bubble. One or the other of these two is in, but not both.
#5. Kingswood (Weak schedule. No quality wins. Tied Williston. Defending champs.) Losing record at 4-6-1. Not a chance to get in unless they win their last two and Governors and Berkshire lose all of theirs.

You have totally forgotten Winsor and their record. They may not have quality wins against Class A schools, but their record is amazing and that cannot be overlooked. They will be in and be a high seed imo.
