    On Friday: Groton 2 - BB&N 1

Didn't see the game but it seems closer than it should have been. Can anyone comment?

WA is not a dominant team by any stretch, but despite losing 7 starters from last year they have hung tough and remain undefeated. As to your comment about "lowly" Brooks, Brooks looked pretty good to me and they always play WA tough, particularly at home.

WA also has far too much respect for its opponents to refer to any of them as “lowly” (so that must have come from an ISL troll). Brooks was only 2 minutes away from winning outright today, despite the fact that WA controlled possession for large stretches of the game and had many more legitimate goal scoring opportunities.

WA might benefit from the long season because the team could get back 2 of their top players for playoffs, neither of whom has played yet this year due to ACL injuries, including a 4 year starter and team captain at forward (and a great kid and team leader) and a very talented defender who plays for a Stars ECNL team and was the teams best center back as a freshman last year.

The lowly comment was facetious, brooks is no force nor a slouch... This really points to the parity and the fact that there are few if any teams that are really dominant. Even teams with lousy records are a danger as they can click for a match while their opponent has a minor break down......

Get over yourselves. No one cares in the ISL about you.

Agreed with one exception- Nobles is dominant team with superior talent and is getting better each week.

Big win for Rivers. Looks like winner of nobles vs rivers will be ISL champ.

                  I like Rivers this year.

"Lowly Brooks" is hardly an accurate description. Had Worcester not scored in the final minute, it would have been their first loss.

                      Brooks also tied Rivers.

Yeah I'd have to give Nobles the nod at this time, but what was yesterday? I would have expected Nobles to demolish Middlesex based on their season performance to date. Did coach decide not to score more than two, or rest the starters for the run up to the playoffs ? Nobles outscored its opponents 5-7 goals (aside from its WA tie) for most of their games. Is the season taking its toll on them?

Not necessarily. What happens if Noble beats Rivers and Milton beats Nobles? Assuming all 3 win all their other games (not a sure bet but just to make a point) you would then have 1 loss and 1 tie in ISL for Rivers, 1 loss for Nobles, and 1 loss for Milton. Not sure how they handle tie breakers but if it is head to head then Milton would win the ISL.

The Rivers - Milton game was very competitive and it could have gone either way. If they played each other 10 times it could very well be a split.

Looks like it is coming down to what was predicted before the season.

Top three are Nobles, Milton and Rivers. Anything can still happen, but it looks like it is still Nobles' to lose.

Governors and Groton the next tier, just not ready to step up to the top. Brooks right there in the second tier as well.

After a solid start of beating all the lower tier teams St Marks has come out on the losing end against the top teams as expected (and some of the middle tier as well).

SM exposed. The back 4 for SM not permitted to cross the center line. Not sure if its because the coach doesnt trust the back line or because he only has one midfielder.
Probably with good reason because the first goal resulted from an undisciplined tackle just inside of the 18 giving up a pk. The second goal resulted from a poorly defended corner kick with 2 minuted to go. Final goal came from a long cross into the box.

NT player possesses the ball nicely, but seems to carry from one touch line to the other rarely distributing, and when she does pass, the othe rmidfielders lose the ball almost immediately.

This team plays with no heart folks. Once down the heads stay down. They are 4-5 players short of being able to compete with any of the class A or B teams. The losses to , Nobles, Milton and Governor's indicate that it will be a year or two before the kittens learn to roar.
While I agree with the goals narration, I had a different perspective of the rest of the game. Actually sat next to SM bench and heard their coach moving back line forward. Told them to leave GA striker offside. Thought NT player left some of her game off the field in order to include her teammates in the flow of the game. Changed the point of attack nicely. Thats only going to help down the road. Even though the "inspirational" speech at half time was animated, I thought the SM coach was very patient in giving direction to a very tactically deficient high school team. That can't be easy considering his background with club players. I think he will probably coach them up in the next few years. For now, probably at the top of the third tier.

This is an even greater indication of fact that there are few truly dominant teams in the ISL or NEPSAC. Has WA lost too many players to a long season? Did they peak way early? Brooks is by no means a big gun, they scored and WA scored........
No, the losses took place BEFORE the season began. It is a testament to WA to remain undefeated at this point with 7 of last year's starters gone.
