Not bad considering overall the team lost 7 starters from last year's team. Graduated 3 seniors, 2 midfielders and a defender; has since lost 2 starters to injuries, a striker and a center back; and lost two starters who transferred out, a center back and a midfielder.

I saw most of the second half of this game and I was not overly impressed with either team compared to prior years. Rivers looks to be a very young team in a rebuilding year, but they have some promising young talent.

As to WA, they are not the same team I have seen in past couple years as they played a much more direct style. It is not surprising that losing 7 starters has impacted their continuity, particularly in the midfield area, where they used to be quite good at controlling possession. However, I did not see the first half in which WA went up 2-0 and it can be difficult to spread the field at Rivers because they are good at pressuring and the pitch is undersized.

In any event, the ISL appears to be wide open this year as BBN (sans Bacon) and Rivers are both down from last year, Nobles also lost a number of strong players and both St Marks and Groton are on an upswing and may be ready to challenge the usual suspects.

I heard WA is playing a 4-3-3 this year. Is that what you saw?

Stunk (past tense) as they have heavily recruited and have a new coach and several talented threats. 3-0 is a bit much, but they are not your old St. Marks. If they actually get a game tomorrow, look for the score to be a close as the conditions will not favor the fast attacking teams....

Have not heard too much about LA . Is there any recruiting going on to better the team ? Just curious if they have any prospects.

                          Score update

                          Governor's 2 - Thayer (home) 1

Physical game on wet field that affected play at times and even prompted coaches to discuss postponing at halftime when score was 0 - 0.

Wet grass stinks. Not from Thayer but we have grass too.

3-0 wins for both St. Marks and Groton today. Rivers won 4-0. Nobles only tied WA 0-0, but WA took down Rivers 2-0, so maybe that's a decent score. In any case, feels like this is the year for some new contenders.
