Now that the Baconator has moved on to the Eagles, What's new in the league?

Status quo from last year? BB & N going to dominate? Will any team from ISL be able to take on any of the NEPSAC power houses like WA or Pomfret? LA making any moves to mirror the football program? St Mark's still at the bottom?

I heard that St. Marks ha been recruiting heavily. But this won't have a real impact for a year or two.

Here is what I think....

Nobles wins again this year. Too good. Too deep.

St Marks has the best player in the league (sophomore transfer). Unless she gets hurt, St. Marks is a top 5 finisher.

Milton will contend but not win.

Governers will be better.

St Pauls will be worse

BBN will have a hard time contending. They lost the top scorer in league history to graduation as well as some other really good players. Supposedly they have some tough injuries to a couple of their best players - like two of their three senior captains are out for the season.

St Marks may take ISL because not only do they have the best player but I'm guessing they may have the best coach. (They also may have the best 3-4 players in the league after his first year of recruiting)

It may be too much to ask after only one year but at least it is going to make things very interesting for the folks in Southborough.

Not so fast. You have already annointed the SM coach as the league's best. And you also think they have the best 3-4 players in the league. Hyperbole is alive and well in this post.

IMO it will be an off year for most teams in the ISL in an overall a down year.
Nobles will always be tough and the team to beat, but they lost a huge group of 4 year starters so they are likely the weakest they have been in years.
St Marks will see a big improvement, but they have far too high a mountain to climb from the bottom to make it to the top. Expect them to make it to the upper third though.
Governors maybe the big surprise as they were extremely young last year and were a power down the stretch. Expect them to compete for the top spot.
Milton had an incredible year last year without any stars. Unlikely they can keep that same level of performance up this year and expect them to fall slightly.
BB&N will be way down this year without the player responsible for every goal scored last year (either scored herself or assisted). The talent isn't strong enough to compete without her.
Groton should continue its movement upward and challenge for the top spot as well.
Rivers will likely be be inconsistent like last year, but still has a strong core and should be amoung the top teams again but may not have the horses to be at the very top.
The bottom third won't change much other than St Mark's movement.
Brooks, Middlesex and the others in the middle of the pack will not be competing for the top spot but will be tough competitors in each game they play.

SM might have the best player now, but soccer is about 11 players. Based on last year they were horrible. But each year is a new one and what matters is the 11 players that they can put onto the pitch. One great player will help a lot, but there is long row to hoe getting them onto the top of the league.

I guess that the take for this year is that there will be a lot of parity in the league. I expect games will be closer than last year with many more one goal differential games to be seen...

I have heard him be rather bellicose when asking a referee to please look at his assistant on the sideline waving a flag frantically, otherwise he usually is pretty quiet. I wish he was louder.

Best Coach comment was based on his Resume. Dallas Texans DOC, Western United DOC, something like 3-4 NCAA Championship rings, 2 as a player and 2 as a coach?

Please advise as to what other coaches in the ISL compare? I also said "may be" as a qualifier. This will be his first year with a team that he has some input with recruiting, etc.
Proof will be in the pudding after the next couple of years.
