Not many teams. There are a good amount at .500.

Algonquin, North, South, Milford, Wachusett, North Middlesex, Shrewsbury (likely but will need to produce to get there), Shepherd Hill, Tantasqua, Marlboro (tough schedule), Nashoba (but they have their work cut out for them), St. John's (because they'll win their league regardless of record), Holy Name (likely).

That's 13. That's my prediction.

Just looked up the MIAA web site from the last few years. Average seems to be about 12 or 13 D1 tournament qualifiers a year.

Teams that have matched up with Algonquin well already this year or might still: North (2-1), South, Marlboro (1-0), North Middlesex (3-2), maybe Wachusett.

Algonquin is 2-1 to advance. North 5-1. Marlboro 12-1. South 12-1. Everyone else down from there. How's that for oddsmaking.

I heard they actually had a few important kids sick and blamed it on the bus !! classic if true. The Algonquin girls made it to Wachusett with a bus thou for the earlier game at 5:00. Anyone know the make up date ?

Strange one from earlier this week. A player from the other team scored a goal. The goal was announced by both the refs and the stadium announcer to that player. They both made mention that the goal was unassisted. When I read the newspaper story yesterday I noticed that the goal was awarded to a completely different player. Strange. How does that happen?

It was as simple as the bus not showing up. Nothing more, nothing less.

So even when Algonquin doesn't even get a chance to blame they get ridiculed. The bus did not show up. Not the program or the kids fault. The amount of hatred placed on Algonquin is just comica; at times.

While this maybe true, a lot of it has been their own doing. Everyone knows how much the parents are "heard" at that school in every sport. Add to it the consistent postings they used to do on Masslive bragging, complaining about their coaches, praising themselves and guess what? Everybody hates you.

See I don't understand this at all. I've been to a number of Algonquin games this year and the parents have been the less obnoxious of the two teams by a considerable amount. In the Acton-Boxboro game an AB parent charged the referee after the game. In the North Middlesex game the NM parents were constantly jabbering at the refs and players and the same was true of the Marlboro game. It must be said that this hatred for Algonquin isn't warranted. Last year in the playoffs the Algonquin team had to be escorted from both the Marlboro and Leominster games by the police due to fear of parents/fans attacking them. It has to be said this hatred for Algonquin isn't totally warranted.

Outside observer here but this post sounds not just a little biased. Men in Black refs? Conspiracy theory PK's? Police escorts? Kid punches someone but its not his fault? Happens again, still not the punchers fault? HELLO??Sounds like some pretty serious sour grapes about a winning soccer program to me.

Who didn't get penalized? Algonquin, who started both incidents but the other 2 teams (Marlboro and Leominster) do get penalized. Do the math. Not hard to figure out. Algonquin is far from the perfect darling you make them out to be.

I know absolutely nothing about the team other than their record. I have noticed however that people only demonize you when you're really, really good. Coincidence? I think not.
