Gonk was defintely the better team and would have won anyways but those 2 PK calls were bogus. AB had what, 1 shot on net all night?

      Pretty funny write-up!

If North gets their passing game organized, they will run away with the league.

That's a big if. While Algonquin certainly didn't dominate North they still won without much of a scare. Other than the goal North didn't have any true goal scoring opportunities and Algonquin had at least 5-6 in the game. Right now I'd say it's Algonquin's title to lose.

Nothing new. Gonk doesn't seem to have a problem winning Central Mass - it's progressing beyond the district that's been the issue. This year is probably their best chance in a while, though, so hopefully they can make it all the way to States.

              Nope

Could be a different story this year. Gonk beat Ludlow 2-0 in a scrimmage and Ludlow lost a fair bit of quality from last years squad.

Algonquin made the states in 2010, 2009 and 2006 (that means winning their section i.e. central). In 2010 and 2009 they lost to Ludlow in the state semi-finals. In 2006 they made it to the state finals before losing.

They lost in the section finals in 2008 and 2007.

Pretty darn good in my book.

Check the MIAA tournament website to see all these results

Sorry, should have clarified I meant States as in the final. Unfortunately it's been all too easy to win Central Mass these past few years - very little competition.

Don't know what game you watched but North out shot Gonk in the game. North actually had a true goal as Gonk scored off a 40 yard free kick the North GK over ran and a cross from outside the 18 toward the PK spot that the North GK for some reason tried to make a diving save ( on a cross ) and dropped the ball. North had better looks at the goal. Stop being a Lilly white suburban parent and give the inner city kids credit were credit is due !! However Gonk won and at the end of the day that's what matters and in soccer the better team doesn't always win !

North has the best athletes in the CMass district. When they stop dribbling on their first and second touch and start to look for the pass, they will be very tough to beat. Discipline and organization will be their biggest challenge. More raw potential than any team in a while. And very few of them have had the coaching opportunities of the suburban schools and club ball.

Why wait until next year? Plenty of opportunity for a new coach to step in and right the ship right now!

They have the best athletes but they definitely don't have the best soccer players. They wont ever look for the pass on one and two touch because they arent skilled enough and they wont win the league with a questionable goalie. Simple enough
