Very different from his philosophy of including seniors as much as possible. KM believes in just putting MPS or fast/aggressive kids on the team no matter what the grade/age/size, and the team's starting to lose it's soul. There's no development in Freshman/JV, (inferior coaching to town soccer, iMHO) and while the Gonk is likely to do well this year in Cmass (as usual) courtesy of a very strong senior club presence, next year is likely to be a mess. Only 3 or 4 jrs made the v team after tryouts, which just shows you how little talent there is in the grade. It'll be interesting. Like I said, they should do well this season and play some good soccer. Very different picture next year.
The other sad thing is how obvious KM is making it that you need to join MPS to have a spot on the team (he placed his own freshman MPS kid on varsity, as predicted by posters last year). There it is: the money factor. Those with it are set, those without, go without. It's still not going to help that much, because if you're a second tier MPS kid, let's face it, you're not as good as a D! first tier MAPLE kid, even if KM thinks you're getting good training. Sad that this is all so ego-driven. I'll be skipping Gonk games this season & catching W'boro, Fralmingham & Natick instead. Less obvious agendas in view. And some good soccer.

Man, with all this vitriolic (and anonymous) macho energy, I'm surprised anyone wants to coach there. Glad my spawn doesn't go there anyway.

I realize coach is still burning after losing states to the wind last year, and the year before that was a missing injured T Guzzi. This year? No excuses?

Yes, with 10 mostly-talented seniors (well coached in clubs, even those outside of MPS) they should have a great run in CMass, injuries aside. Still, I see them struggling outside CMss. They don't all play on the sameMPS teams. Some of the teams have had dreadful records. I think Ken's got his work cut out for him next year. Being lucky enough to have all these tremendous club senior players is fortunate, but the situation with juniors is fairly dire, unless they can convince some DAP kids to move in.

That was probably one of the most ill-informed posts of all time. The DAP U18 Goalie went on to be a all-New England field player and the goalie that replaced him was all-league. The team's striker is not the coaches son, but rather another u18 DAP player who is a division one commit. Your facts are terribly wrong.
