St. John's/Algonquin summer league game this pm. Gonk won 4-3,with goals scored by freshmen/sophomores. Gonk didn't have a goalie - used 4 or 5 different players in the net. I believe only two Gonk seniors were playing, plus a bunch of jrs and a couple of freshmen/sophs, and St. John's looked to have mostly jrs/seniors (?). Not a full roster for either, decent clean game. Don't think it tells anything at all about how the season will go for either school, but nice to see the boys back on the field.

I am waiting until how long it is until a Gonk supporter rips the coach apart because he plays some of these underclassmen on varsity.

Let's not go crazy, now. It was just a summer game - lots of the v. players aren't even participating (in all schools, i'm sure). The Gonk coach is known for his support of MPS, which is fine. Obviously he likes the training the kids get with the club. The Gonk team should have quality, as usual. Lots of good leadership too.

You know it is just a matter of time before it happens.

Hill has a very good coach that adjusts his defensive formations to the team he is up against but Hills depth can't match Gonk, Wachusett, or STJ, Marlboro. Weak schedule every year hurts Hill. They will make districts as the GK they have is real good

STJ is no longer in the equation. Never has a program dropped so quickly. Do not rule out Leominster or a city school.........actually please do, the Old Boys Network will make sure they do not advance.

Yeah, the bubble parents (Gonk) will be on here crying about the coach within 1 week. They are so annoying.

The STJ program is in a downward spiral; the coach began it last year with poor positional choices and tactical idiocy. They have little in the way of talent and RG is not the answer as coach.

Leominster lost most of the talent last year but have 5-6 solid players in the program. Worcester North will be a very good team this year. They return 8-9 starters and have 4-5 new players entering via transfer or new students. However, in fighting and team chemistry, will be down fall of them. Sept. 8 vs Gonk will be interesting. If North ties or pulls it out I'm sure the KM flood gates will open. STJ is on the spiral down, who knows what marlboro has they always seem to have players. Wachusett, Milford and Westboro lost a lot of talented players. Tantasqua could be a sleeper but not a district champion. Should be interesting year

In other words, the typical weak competition meaning that the Gonk will win districts and then go on to fail outside of Cmass, as usual ... Still, it'll be fun.

Yes, this is the final year where Gonk will have a strong senior club presence. Plenty of fast but mediocre juniors. Just like St. John's, they'll be rebuilding the program next year. Hopefully the interest in boys' soccer will keep up. The girls are looking better for the future.

Top players this year in D1? Top teams? Programs with good coaching or bad coaching ? What preseason games are scheduled for some of the schools ?

Wachusett will dominate this season there will be much rejoicing. Gonk and StJ are all washed up.
