So basically the original poster insulted all the schools but those 16? Way to go! Let's entertain some debate!

Also note to original poster - it's echelon not eschelon.

Any soccer player who wants to be recruited knows that college coaches scout the premier club teams at major tournaments, not high school games.
MA soccer on the girls side IS currently superior to CT.

It stuck in my craw so I thought I might post a little reminder here that there are some great public school players on great public school teams. The fact that the ISL teams don't see them doesn't mean they don't play REAL soccer.

What schools are in the league?

Well at least when they're not playing well they do so honorably since the ISL teams play REAL soccer - the way it's supposed to be played. Compare this to all the other private and public school teams who are playing crap soccer all the time.

                I'm betting it's a Nobles parent.

Having watched a good amount of both public and private school girls soccer, I offer the following:

                  1. Don't over-generalize. There are over 350 MIAA schools and dozens of independent private programs. They represent the entire spectrum. Good, bad, ugly and real.

                  2. Big MIAA programs are significantly larger than even the biggest private program. This doesn't mean they are better but the numbers make a huge difference for program like Framingham, Weymouth or Newton North.

                  3. Very little college scouting and/or recruiting is done at any HS game. Be it A/B, W/H, Nobles and Rivers or smaller schools like Hamilton Wenham or the Windsor School the recruiting game is played on club fields.

                  4. Press coverage and attendance is significantly greater with the MIAA tourney. Again not saying its better, but more people pay attention to the MIAA event.

                  5. The private independent schedule (rarely more than two games a week and running deeper into the fall) is better for the player.

How is this relevant? Nobles players may all be from Massachusetts but Loomis has players from many different states, one foreign player and even a few from the apparently great soccer state of Massachusetts.

How does being from out of state or a foreign country put relevancy on Loomis's program in 2008? Those kids looking for a private school with a high profile soccer program aren't going to LC any more.

To the individual who does not understand the relevancy issue- You opined that Nobles is a better team than Loomis because, in your not very humble opinion, Mass Premier soccer is better than CT. How is that relevant to Loomis which is made up of players from several different states. Loomis has a player from Texas, and as we all know, Texas girls premier soccer is much stronger than Massachusetts, ergo, using your logic, Loomis is better than Nobles. If Loomis was a CT state school, made up only of premier players from CT, your position might pass the laugh test, but it isn't and your argument doesn't.

                            Hey Loomis parent-

Do you think Loomis Chafee might come up and play Acton-Boxborough? AB was supposed to play St. John's from DC (a private school) - one of the nationally ranked teams. Something happened with that team and their coach left and they backed out of the game today. I'm not sure what the AB coach is looking for in a replacement team, but this could provide the public/private CT/Mass showdown some here are looking for. :)

I would love to see Nobles play againest Framingham!!! The parents and the hired help side by side watching their children play, what fun.
Too bad BBN tied Acton-Boxboro 1-1 without their starting goalkeeper or centerback/captain. Add in the multiple injuries.

Rather macho talk there, AB parent. Why not challenge the LC parent to a steel cage death match? That way, you can both prove how tough you are and leave the kids out of it.
