I wanted to start a discussion regarding U13 Girls Division II. There will be some good soccer here, although there is quite a talent spread between teams at the top and those that will be fighting to remain out of Maple D. I have heard that the Pioneers have gotten stronger....which is scary to think of. I also know that Inter remains a talented group...as their core group just won the U12 MTOC. Whose the wild card in this division? What should we expect to see, and what should we hope to see?

Where are these teams playing this weekend? You should have a better feel for the teams by Monday night.

Re: U13 GIRLS DIVISION II
Based on last Spring's play alone, I would predict Pioneers, Inter and Vikings will be at the top and battle for promotion. Since no one has seen any of these teams play since then, and all rosters have undergone some changes, making predictions like this is fairly meaningless but hey, its a slow morning. Everyone else is at the Cape.
I think the Eagles and Inter have lost many of their core players and will have a hard time competing to go back up. I was never that impressed with Vipers to begin with so unless they re-loaded they won't move up.
Everytime I watched Aztecs I thought they looked good, but they must have some match up issues with certain teams because their results last Spring were only fair. A few new starters could make them a competitor for promotion as well.
Berkshire has some players. They have a decent defense. Their style of play resembles the Pioneers but with less talent. Unless they added some players, I think they are cut below Pioneers and Vikings. They might play better with ear plugs. Nevertheless, good D can get you far, especially when the weather turns ugly, fields turn muddy, and "kick and pray" starts to look like joga bonito.
Sachems have improved greatly but are still probably a Div 2-level team. Lets see how they fare against CFC and the newly-promoted Bolts tomorrow.
Benfica and Noreaster were the weakest of the teams last Spring. Without some new blood, they will be in bottom third.

The first place team gets promoted and the 2nd place team plays a promo/releg game. Everyone else stays put or moves to MAPLE D, correct?

Re: U13 GIRLS DIVISION II
I am pretty sure top two go up without promo-releg game but I could be wrong. I am too lazy to look it up on MAPLE web site.
Given that both Div 1 and Div 2 each go from 10 teams to 8 teams in the Spring, 4 teams from Div 1 will drop to Div 2. Div 2 will pick up 2 teams from Div D so only 2 of the current 10 Teams in Div 2 will stay in 2 in the Fall. (2 go up, 2 stay, 6 go to "D")

Re: U13 GIRLS DIVISION II
Inter lost players? The last time I saw them they seemed to be really improving and coming on strong. They had a new coach that was returning class to their team (last one melted down on sideline...terribly embarrassing for organization and team). They team as a whole seemed driven, focused and strong. Who did they lose and where did they go?

The top 4 or 5 in div 1 have seperated them selves from everyone else, so the remaining clubs will all yo-yo between 1 and 2.

Re: U13 GIRLS DIVISION II
I saw this age group play over the long weekend. The teams are all horrible and overrated. Nothing but glorified town teams disguised under club names. Worse of all was the coaching. Lots of money being wasted, the parents are being snookered.

Pioneers I guess were okay last year but they got dismantled by Scorps at Irwin Cup. This year, they lost 5-1 to NE Comets at the Farmington Shootout. I guess they did beat FSA's second team...
Inter just lost to Vikings at Bandit Cup.
It looks like Stingers might have gotten stronger. They defeated Puma at Bandit Cup, and played a close game with Rays.
Berkshire will still be a force. Vipers will have a chance to go back up. Eagles will be at the bottom.

How is this different from any other year when the bottom two from div 1 spring generally go down and the top 2 from div 2 go up ?
