Already it Looks like it will be a New England Maple League with bracketing and longer travel, more teams >>> more bracketing. Only difference would seem to be no forced dropping out of league if record is poor.....

Players are born with talent, not technique.

A coach needs to teach the player the technical aspects of the game. Some players get it, some don't. Some work on it to the point where they reall good at it, and some don't. But it's no different than say, playing the piano. Someone has to teach you how to do it. What you do from there is up to you. Some will have talent and desire, and will become legendary. Others will work really hard, and still not have the talent to advance beyond a certain level.

One thing is for certain: A player needs to use the technical skills taught in competitive game situations to help use them quickly and under pressure, and as long as the competitive nature of clubs and coaches is focused on winning, the players will not have the freedom to work on this, make mistakes, and perfect the tecniques.

Dude, the poster was talking individual technical skills- that's all repetition, talent and hard work. One can watch a game and see great technical stuff or a video of Ronaldinho doing an elastico or a coach can demo a double scissors to his team- from there it's all up to the individual to practice practice practice on his own and get it down pat so that in a game it's done with ease. The club coach in most cases has very little to do with this. (unless it's his son or the kid can afford a private coach and he trains with him several hours a week in addition to team practice).
