In my view the LOTG are nearly perfect in their simplicity and occassional ambiguity. The ATR is a different animal and the debate during courses is much different than the debate on the LOTG. Related but different. Unfortunately neither one supplies an official with a dose of common sense. That is either inherited and/or learned. And I am lucky to have had good teachers, mentors and good genes.

Whatever, Cujo. Yesterday you didn't know what the ATR was. Now you read it every year. It's good to be you. At least that's what you tell us in every other post (They are all about you, even in a thread about headgear lol)

As for your disappointment with the way the ATR is written, please read this from USSF, then forward your complaints to them. OK?

"It is an official statement of Federation interpretations of the Laws. Affiliated leagues, associations, competitions, and officials must implement them to the fullest extent possible. Participants in affiliated matches must not impose personal, unsupported, or unofficial interpretations of any provisions of the Laws of the Game."

The funny thing is that you are not even a good liar. I never said I didn't know what it was (to use your term 'duh"). I merely said that I did not remember 1 part of a sentence in a 92 page document. I actually keep a pdf of the document on my desktop FWIW. Quick tell me what is on page 58 paragraph 3 line 7. No peeking!!!!!! Your problem is that you hate me so much that you will rip apart anything that I post. One week you are ripping me for questioning whether a tackle was violent and then the next week you rip me because I provide an insightful post about the role of contact in soccer. I may be arrogant (you say pompous but they are different things) and I agree with that assessment. But you appear to be a miserable jerk. You are really a nasty and miserable human being. How do I know this? PM's dude. Lot's of em. The relationship between the LOTG and ATR is important. The ATR spins far more shades of grey and I find it most usefull when doing adult games. The speed of play, the skill level, and the intensity require a little more than what the LOTG provide. That being said the fundamental foundation of good officiating is understanding Law 12 and applying common sense. Digesting and memorizing everything from the ATR is similar to saying you understand the IRS tax code 100%. If you say that you have 100% understanding of the ATR I submit that you are full of crap. I doubt that you are an official and really hope that you are not because I do not think that your attitude is good for the game. You have an awful lot of anger inside you and I personally think that given your demeanor in this forum that at some point you will present a danger to those around you. I suggest getting some anger management counseling. You may find it helpful.

Arrogant or not, I know that I am a good official and most nights leave the pitch satisfied that I have upheld the dignity of the game, called it fairly and done my best to provide a safe, fun and competitive environment for the participants. I don't know if THAT sentiment is in the ATR but it sure as heck is important to the 99.99% of the players who play the game for the LOVE of the game.

I don't think anybody in here believes that you contribute anything useful to the forum. My posts on the other hand are relevant and I never initiate ad hominem attacks unlike you. You seem to enjoy attacking the messenger. In short this forum would benefit more from your departure than mine and I guarantee that the majority of the regulars in here agree with me (whether or not they agree with my opinions which I am ok with). You bring nothing to the table other than anger and hatred. I bet even your dog is uncomfortable with you.

Is it TRUE that NEP is requiring all player to wear headgear to better protect its players?

Nope just keeping the real scores off the web site to avoid embarrassment of the lopsided scores. Protect the players what were you thinking they want the kick back from headgear supplier.

"You seem to enjoy attacking the messenger"

You need to find a plural form of that pronoun.
                      I suggest "Y'all"
Cuz, when you (or other self-important know-it-alls like you) are the messenger, I certainly enjoy attacking. And I enjoy the posts of others who do the same.
So I know there is at least one other poster out there who feels as I do.

Ya know what? I bet that poster is a parent. Doesn't that just make your little, i'm-proud-of-my-arrogance head want to explode?

IN 1975, SAM PELTZMAN 1 presented the argument that automobile driv ers may offset the benefits of automobile safety improvements by increas ing their risk taking during driving in response to the added safety features. 2 Since then, risk theorists and economists have presented evidence that humans may offset improvements in product safety by taking fewer precau tions or by taking greater risks in response to the perceived safety benefits. 3

Research in what is now referred to as risk homeostasis theory 4 ("RHT") or offsetting behavior theory 5 ("OBT"), especially in the fields of consumer products and workplace safety regulations, supports the idea that human beings may tend to "consume" or to offset the benefits of improve ments in safety design by engaging in more risky behavior. Moreover, ac cording to the data, humans tend to engage in this consumptive behavior towards the very product in which the individual has recently perceived an improvement in safety and also sometimes toward other similar products. 6

For example, someone who is accustomed to driving with extreme caution in a snowstorm because her car is not equipped with snow tires, would, upon refitting her car with snowtires, drive less cautiously in future snowstorms, as she gains increasing confidence in the tires' ability to keep the car on the road. 7 According to risk homeostasis theorists, she has offset the added safety benefits of the snowtires by driving with less caution. 8

                        just sayin!

Why would I care what a parent thinks? From my point of view they are virtually non-entities in the world of youth sports. Basically they are bank accounts and taxis. And not much else.

What if the " other poster" wasn't a parent, but a higher Grade Referee than you, with more game and higher level game experience. ?

Without those " bank accounts and taxis " , you would be left with less situations to lecture us about.

I don't think he is an official. Does not seem to have the termperment or understanding of the relationship between ATR and LOTG. That is one very angry person. Scary angry.

If we are to believe the signature, both posts were made by the same guy!

He reminds me so much of a hs sophmore I teach. The kid routinely talks down to his peers. He is convinced he is the smartest one on the planet. Every once in a while, of course, someone pokes a hole in one of his pronouncements and lets him have it. Then he gets all defensive and insulting while simultaneously demanding protection from the faculty. I hate that.

Just grow up, Cujo. When you constantly insult people on here, you are going to get plenty in return.

And I will be happy to jump on the bandwagon.
It's fun to insult the insulter.
Isn't that why Al Gore invented the internet? LMAO!
