    SAMANTHA PRESCOTT

Samantha Prescott is a member of the Stars of MA GU15 ECNL team and her father, Mike Prescott, has been a MAPLE referee for a number of years.* Those of you who may have played against Sam would recognize her big smile and positive contribution to her team, Sam would be the first to extend a hand to a fallen player whether it was her own team or her opponent.
    *
*We are heartbroken to share this information about Sam to the MAPLE soccer community. Sam has a devastating diagnosis of incurable brain cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sam and her family.*

This Sunday and as long as games are played, may we all appreciate and enjoy the game of soccer and the young people who are playing. That's what Sam would want.
    *
For those of you who may know or have come across the Prescotts, we would like to offer an opportunity for you to support them. *We are setting up a fund in the next 24 hours to help the Prescotts with medical expenses and any other needs that Sam may have. More information to follow.

I saw this on the Maple site as well. That is tragic and it's truly does minimize the crap that can be posted on this board. There certainly are more important things to worry about!

So along the way in life and in particular in coaching you get to know all kinds of kids and parents (both good and not so good)...and many years ago I met the Prescotts. Sami was my daughters age and both girls played an age up in a summer soccer league (and I eventually was roped into assn coaching).

I continued to run into Sami and her dad over the years as she played against my daughter a few times, just the kind of player you wanted to compete with .... very talented, great competitor with a real balance of both intensity and sportmanship. She was as competitive a player as you would want to meet but would be the first to help someone once the whistle was blown and play was stopped. My daughter was injured in her last HS game this year against Sam's team and Sam was one of the girls that helped her off the field.

                That was Sam....

Sami and her dad both referee locally and we worked a few games together or one or the other refereed games I coached. Sami refereed so she could pay part of the cost of her club soccer bills....She is just that kind of young lady.

If you have not met Sam or do not know her family you missed something special.

If there is a god and he/she has a miracle to spare, this child deserves it as does her family. They are great people and she is just a special young lady.

Please say a prayer for her after you go hug your children

Had surgery yesterday- we are all pulling for her. Probably wheeled into the OR with her Stars jersey on.

She and her family are exactly the same as they always have been absolutely wonderful people so concerned about how her team family is coping.

                          This is unbelievable.

Sorry, but that is just flat out goofy. Peace to this family during these unimaginably difficult times.
