sportsmanship
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe girls should also being taught good sportsmanship which includes respecting the ref no matter how questionable the calls. We have all been at club games (and town games for that matter) where the ref makes bad calls and ends up influencing the final score. Why not wait until after the game, tell the girls how well they played and let them know that sometimes the ref doesn't make the right calls and what is most important is how the girls played--isn't u11 still a developmental age?

SAMANTHA PRESCOTT
Samantha Prescott is a member of the Stars of MA GU15 ECNL team and her father, Mike Prescott, has been a MAPLE referee for a number of years.* Those of you who may have played against Sam would recognize her big smile and positive contribution to her team, Sam would be the first to extend a hand to a fallen player whether it was her own team or her opponent.
*
*We are heartbroken to share this information about Sam to the MAPLE soccer community. Sam has a devastating diagnosis of incurable brain cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sam and her family.*
This Sunday and as long as games are played, may we all appreciate and enjoy the game of soccer and the young people who are playing. That's what Sam would want.
*
For those of you who may know or have come across the Prescotts, we would like to offer an opportunity for you to support them. *We are setting up a fund in the next 24 hours to help the Prescotts with medical expenses and any other needs that Sam may have. More information to follow.

Sam
oh geez. I now have a huge lump in my throat. Such sad news for that poor girl and her family. Doesn't this put things into perspective?

Of course everyone feels for Samantha's illness, but it does not give NB a free pass to misbehave in front of 10/11 year old girls.
Shame on the person who moved the perspective piece into the
'NEFC U11 coach CLASSLESS' thread.
Trying to misdirected people attention away from a thread that had
little interest when the piece was posted.
Of course Moving the thread back to top of the list might of been a hidden agenda when reposting the piece on samantha
