    Girls 97/98

I recognize that most of the age group's parents probably have not yet found this forum so there might not be a lot of information about this group but what does the balance of power look like for it? I've heard that Fred Marks is coaching a team in this age bracket and has a pretty strong group. I've also been told that the Eagles have a pretty strong group. Any other teams notable?

        Strength.

Coach told the team that they can't do recess, art or be in the band as it might interfere with their young soccer minds so the smarter ones left.

Fred's track record for turning out young teams is well known. I would not be at all surprised if this was just his way of setting the tone. As far as being smart by leaving, I guess that would depend upon your vantage point. If you want your kid to reach a higher level of soccer, you have to understand that they will have to pay a price to get there and his thinking is not all that far off base. That said 90% of the players involved at this age won't even be playing by the time they reach high school so you have to ask yourself if the juice will be worth the squeeze.

Dude .. You sound like your typical newbie. If you had the slightest clue how any of this works out you wouldn't be attempting to flame up this thread.

Since Maple doesn't keep standings at U10 it's hard to see from afar who are the stronger teams coming up. Who was strong last Spring? A big issue with U11 teams is kids that played up repeating the U11 year. Are there any teams that are built with large numbers of players repeating?

Shut it, been on this since before you were born. On the old touchline for years, son. I have more understanding that you can possibly realize; 1 in college and 1 graduating next spring, been on 2 club soccer boards and did a short stint at a D2 college so don't you pretend to know more than me.

This whole thread has been fairly sarcastic with comments tying back to the U16 thread about a coach telling his players they cant play winter or spring sports. If you had any sense on how to follow threads, you would see that.

                        Cujo only had 1 daughter.

Not only does MAPLE not keep standings at U10, teams are placed by region making it difficult to guage overall team strength. Add in the mix that not only do some players play-up, some teams also play-up. These teams tend to play-up at tournaments as well.

The Stars U10 United and the Scorpions U10 Black teams played in U11 Orange in Spring 2008; both teams are playing U12 Green this Fall. Also, I know the U11 Bolts had several U10s playing up; one of which is now with the Scorpions playing U11.

Stars and Scorpions will be strong it sounds like...who else will be in the U11 G mix? Does anyone have anything? I think I heard something about Western being good in that age group.

The Eagles have a number of girls that played up last year and also picked up two from last years Bolts U11 team.
