You are dreaming if you think CH doesn't have better connections than JD. Who is JD? All he is is just a youth soccer coach, plain and simple. CH was the assistant head coach at BC. Don't for a moment buy the Stars koolaide, most college coaches will put a lot more faith in a phone call from a fellow college coach than they will one from a youth coach.

The difference is that nobody cares about CH's players.
Also, if you think nearly every major college coach in the East and most in the country dont have JDs cell # you are dead wrong. Too many good players over too many years... Hamblin just hasnt been in that position yet.

Families and the girls themselves do all the work. JD, LB, MM, CH, whoever the girls' coach is just helps the process. None of them have any better "connections" or believability or any great boost. Its about the girls them selves and their abilities to perform on the field and how good a job they do selling them selves and how well they play at the specific games the coaches are there to see.

The U13 Stars team is not all that strong and if they are going to compete in the top ECNL brackets in the years to come, they will need a substantial talent make over. The Stars brass knows that they don't have any top tier talent and only 3 players on the roster could be considered anywhere near above average talents. None of those are true impact players who project out to be anything but low level prospects and that is not anywhere near enough to compete on the national stage the Stars have selected for this team. The rest of the team is filled with role players who are nothing more than cannon fodder to the Stars. They are there to pay the bills but will never reap any benefits for doing it. The Stars hype machine is out selling hard because they know that unless they fix this team now the wheels are going to come off the bus real fast. Be careful about this situation because joining the team now could be like joining the crew of the Titanic for its maiden voyage.

I did not know Aztecs brought a guest player, but had heard NEFC played with a guest player. NEFC's new team member did not travel with the team this weekend, that could be why they used the regional player from NH/or, maybe they are trying to recruit her to play for NEFC). Either way, it is a tournament, teams use guest players, I am not sure why it is presented so rudely on this thread. SSC used a guest player, their own U13 Premier team goalie played with the Elite team this weekend as the goalie.

It's way too early to say who is going to be what. It is clear though several things have changed in a big way over the last few years.
- Clubs like MPS and NEFC have become destination teams for many talented players and are the "anti-Stars" in many, many ways
- After several years of being the clear front runner in what is now the older ages - U18 and U17, the Stars armor is starting to show some rust with several teams no longer being the talent laden clear front runners. U16 being the poster child for this with the Scorpions being the only truly dominent player
- The talent level in MA is still on the rise which makes it far more difficult to accumulate the kinds of dominent teams that Stars was able to accomplish in the recent past
- The ECNL has had several impacts on the marketplace and in some ways has done the exact opposite of what Stars, Eclipse and the other founders were trying to accomplish and that is clearing space for the next group of clubs regionally and nationally to carve out a strong niche and get into the top showcases and show their abilities on a regional and national stage that was previously next to impossible to accomplish
- The Scorpions, despite being in the ECNL and having a true national power in their U16 team, have seemingly been unable to make much if any gain in stature or move much past their small albeit highly successful small club niche on the south shore
- The Aztecs have been able to keep their head down avoiding the public infighting of the Stars, Scorpions, NEFC and MPS and have gained significant momentum as well and have become a club developing strong players and some real success as well
- The playing field keeps evolving and the one thing that history shows is that there is always clubs on the rise and clubs on the decline, either within small age groups or more sweeping accross the whole club
Relax and enjoy the ride as what you experience today is only a learning moment in a long term journey. It is clear however that a female soccer player in this state has far more choice than just a few years ago and these choices are becoming more clear and a fit can be far easier to find.

Don't underestimate the power of the Stars, a bit like a black hole but a very strong pull on talent. BTW the Stars U12G are the best team in that age group so even if the 13's aren't there (yet), there are more good Stars teams headed thru the system.

It's a lot harder to build a resume when you start with a small club and work to build it the old fashioned way with an academy program and expansion at younger ages. It takes time for those seeds to show results. No one disputes that.
What you blind supporters of the Stars at these early ages just don't understand is that that success really has absolutely nothing to do with the future success of the Stars teams at U12. 13, 14 and 15. Success as a team is based on a collection of talent and national level success is based on having one or two true game changers. Those game changers are the ones that will go to the great college programs you young parents are dreaming about. Reality is that all but one or two of you are simply that - dreamers.
The ride is about far more than being on the perceived best team, especially one based on prior age groups success. Its about a great fit for your child and a team that makes her happy and helps her get to where she wants to be and can achieve.
Open your eyes. Marketing is intended to make you believe what is not a fact. LEarn the facts for yourselves.
