If Nefc can't score BTDT will be the first one to jump. He seems very analytical when weighing the pros and cons of youth soccer and will not wait to see how things shake out. IMHO

I have no indication the regional players at NEFC will leave that team. The coaching and club are really strong. They've already attracted one ECNL bound player. If NEFC improves, they will attract more.
As with all age groups, players will go to the strongest team, and not the ECNL team necessarily.
If ECNL is what matters most, then NEFC just won't hold them. I assume that NEFC is already waiving fees for those 2 players, and Stars would doubtless do the same thing.
It really comes to do you believe in the ECNL path or not.

1.) We are not very good at U13.
2.) If you're on the team right now it's temporary until we find better.
3.) We need everyone else to come to us to make a team.
4.) Why wouldn't you want to come to us in the past that's what everyone else has done.
5.) Everyone else is 2nd tier but we need you!!!

Some top drama ahead in this age group as everyone attempts to use TS to recruit talent this spring. Power rankings, all star lists, geographical arguments, club histories, crank parent pseudo experts, shamen and prognosticators. I cannot wait!

All of the best teams in the state/region/country can go to top level tournaments and be seen by college coaches.
If NEFC/MPS/Aztecs are better than Scorpions (not saying they are, just hypothetical) why would a player leave to join a lesser team? The ECNL may cause a small shift, but the fact remains......Players will migrate to the best team.
Look at the current U16 age group. Scorpions are obviously the best team, but NEFC is stronger than Stars in that age group. From what I can tell that team has already been to CASL and is in the top group at Jefferson Cup this month. I suspect they'll probably head to PDA this spring also. They are not in the ECNL, but they will be seen by hundreds of college coaches by the time the year is over.
U15 is different because Stars and Scorpions have the two best teams, but U14 is just like the scenario above.
Stars and NEFC are the best two teams and both can get into any tournament they want to attend (ECNL or no ECNL). U13 looks to be shaping up in a similar fashion.

On the other hand, if the "top" teams are at the top because of a dependence on one or two superstars, what happens in they move teams, quit soccer, move out of state, get injured, etc?

Why all the conjecture aboout the nefc regional players? Isn't it more likely the other two regional players in the state join them there?
