    Nutrition and the Game?

Lets talk about some real stuff that can help create a players that is healthier and full of endurance and well conditioned!

I think about the recent tournaments that i have been to lately and the junk they are serving! Then you see all the crap the players are eating?? What is with this?? We need to teach these players about healthy choices that will help sustain them through a game. These tournaments should follow suit and at least attempt to be somewhat healthy?? It is about sports and nutrition.
Proper hydration, less sugar more water, high complex carbs days before for games for endurance and stamina.
Not all that fried junk that weighs you down and causes fatigue and sugar that causes instant crashes
    .
Why aren't more clubs addressing these issues? This important nutrition/diet information will follow into adult years and help create healthier players! Then we will have healthier families as positive outcomes from these teaching!

Some clubs and coaches do address this issue. We've had a very difficult time getting our teenage player to eat enough of the right foods even though the coach is very specific about what is expected.

Hydration is very difficult to maintain in hot weather and it seems once the players get dehydrated enough, they almost don't realize that that is why they are feeling the way they are.

Tournaments result in insufficient sleep as the kids travel late so they don't miss school. Plus the hotels are often crowded with players and people and noisy so they can't get enough sleep.

Oh yeah - one more pet peeve. Every tournament we've been to the tournament travel people do not reserve enough non-smoking rooms so some players get stuck in smoking rooms. Mass Youth Soccer even put players in smoking rooms at a hotel for Rider a couple years ago and thought nothing of it.
