Did anybody see the Stars - Maryland game? Stars won 2 - 1. Was the game that close?
Maryland played well, the game could have been 6-1 Stars, they missed some golden chances. The Stars scored 2 very good goals. MD played very defensive and made it very hard. It was a good game to watch.
Thanks for the summary. 2 - 1 sounded too close. I'm actually surprised that Maryland got the ball out of their end.

No it was close for a while as MD played very well, they are no slouches. Second half Stars took over and created many chances. A lot of credit goes to MD as they played a great game.
Cruising? Really Scorps have already made the semi finals and Stars stars have not.
What are you talking about??? Someone in this forum keeps posting these total absurd post.
Stars have 2 wins Scorps are 1-1. I'm assuming head to head would be the first tie breaker, so it's impossible for the Scorps to advance even if they win tomorrow and Conn loses, Stars have to win tomorrow if head to head is the first tie breaker.

Scorps won 1-0 today loser, the region 1 website is wrong. You are definately not a Stars parent because they played next to where we played today so they knew the score was 1-0 to Scorps
Is stars experiencing SUPERNOVA?
JD come down to earth and realize that going around and using your players and other means to gather the best talent is not good enough anymore. People are catching on and learning that the collection of Stars doesn't always beat a team with heart, desire, and some talent!
I hardly think they have experienced a Supernova. The same things were being said about the Scorpions just months ago and here they are headed into the Region 1 Finals. Obviously the Stars have hit a rough patch toward the end of their U15 season, but good teams bounce back from adversity. Could the Stars have peeked too early? Did they play too many games? Did injuries do them in? It would be interesting if someone would objectively reply as we might learn from their experiences. Don't both replying if you have to be nasty about it.

This isn't nasty. I know many of the Stars players and parents. In my opinion, they got overconfident. The parents and coach have been talking about returning to Nationals since last year. They acted like it was a guarantee. Nationals, Nationals, Nationals is all that their parents wanted to talk about. That attitude went down to the players. They did great in Region 1 and that created even more hubris. When they lost to the Scorpians in the State Cup, they chalked it up to resting some players and being a little flat. I don't think anyone doubts that they have the most talented players in the Region. But champions remain hungry and play each game like it's their last. The Scorps are doing it. And good for them.
The Stars players (and parents and coach) learned a valuable lesson. I'm sure that they will be back next year with a bit more humility.
So what you're saying is that the reason the Stars tailed off at the end of the season was arrogance, overconfidence and hubris????
I can believe the parents bought into this but I really doubt Coach D thought getting back to nationals was a slam dunk. I would have thought that the close call with the Rovers and the loss to the Scorps would have been enough of a wake up call. There must be a better explanation.

Yes, that is what I'm saying with a lot of knowledge about this team, players, and coach. I'm not sure why the ???? Slam dunk is how many saw it. Being confident in sports is a good thing. But sometimes, you can be overconfident. Nothing against Coach D but if you think coaches don't get overconfident, you're being naive. The Scorps were hungrier. The Rovers were hungrier. Maryland was hungrier and only lost 2 - 1. ENY was hungrier. That's why you play the game.
The only other explanation is that they are not as good as thought. I don't believe that. On paper, no team in Region 1 is stronger.
