CRU Under 14 Panther Girls Tryouts

CRU Panther will continue into the Fall of 2008 as a MASC Under 14 team.

We are not a team of players that were scouted and recruited to be a "super" under 14 team. Instead this team includes players with a great love of soccer who are willing to take the time to learn the game.

Coach Lauren Gregor and Frank Fernandes will continue to coach the pool of players with three training sessions per week.

If your daughter has decided to take soccer seriously and can commit to an aggressive and comprehensive training program consider CRU soccer.

My daughter played for CRU a few years ago. She did not play on this team but Frank did give extra instructions and practice to her. Frank is a very knowledgeable coach and a great man. He will help your daughter grow as a player and a person. My daughter plays on a D1 team but she still speaks of Frank with great respect and wished they played D1 so she could still be with his club. Good luck CRU!

My daughter did play for Frank. The gods honest truth is that if it were not for his efforts, my daughter would have quit playing soccer long ago. He is one of the true gentlemen in youth sports. If you have an opportunity for your kid to play for him .. jump at it.

My daughter also played for Frank at CRU in the past, and considered him to be the best coach she ever had. Under his guidance her play improved tremendously. And he is a true gentleman. If you are concerned with your child's development, then there are not many better coaches out there.

This team plays a flat four 4-4-2 like the older CRU Panther team. If a player has not played in that system will she be at a dissadvantage??

CRU Panther will continue to use the "flat back" defense. It is not always a four back. Sometimes we are in a three back. However we never use a free player or "Sweeper".

I typically introduce teams to this at age eleven but I have been successful introducing players to it at any age. It will not be a problem for a player willing to learn.

This team is looking for a center midfielder, outside midfielders and a tough outside marking back. However smart, athletic players could learn the skills needed to play any of these positions.

BTW, I have just completed my 20th straight year coaching in MAPLE or it's predecessor the NCCL and I am looking forward to coaching this group through high school.

Re: CRU Under 14 Panther Girls Tryouts

Lauren Gregor of Holliston and Brandeis is the "Game Day" coach for this CRU team. Like several other MAPLE coaches Lauren came out of CRU as and outstanding striker and went on to play brilliantly at college.

Here are some highlights of her playing days but a simple search of the web will tell you a lot about this young coach.

Brandeis had four members of their women’s soccer team named to the 2004 to the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Conference team. Former CRU player Lauren Gregor of Holliston, Mass. (CRU Warriors, 1994-G1, 1998 - 2002) was named a first-team All-UAA selection. Sophomore forward Lisa Kaplin of Armonk, N.Y., and senior defender Melissa Gordon of Princeton, N.J., garnered second-team honors. Junior midfielder Jessica Druckman of Hazlet, N.J., earned honorable-mention recognition.

Gregor, last year’s honorable mention, lead Brandeis scorers in the regular season, tallying 11 goals and six assists for 28 points. She was second in the conference during the regular season. She scored game-winning goals in two of her school three UAA victories. Lauren scored the first goals in 2-0 victories over Case Western Reserve University on Oct. 9 and against Carnegie Mellon University on Oct. 31. She notched 3 two-goal games this season and had two other games with a goal and an assist. With at least one more game to go this season and another year left in her career, Lauren has 27 goals and 14 assists for 68 points, good for seventh on Brandeis all-time list. http://www.crusoccer.com/home/87183.html
Holliston's Lauren Gregor (10 goals, 4 assists), a senior on the Brandeis University women's soccer team, earned first-team University Athletic Association honors for the second straight year
In other Womens Soccer news, Brandeis leading scorer Lauren Gregor was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District soccer team for her performance during the 2005 regular season. Gregor netted ten goals on the year and added four assists for a total of twenty-four points. She currently has thirty-nine goals and ninety-six points for her career, and she will have the oppurtunity to add to that total on Saturday. Gregor was also named UAA player of the week three times during the course of her seasons at Brandeis, and will be graduating in the spring with a major in chemistry.
