    Re: State Cup Semi/FinalsPredictions (Results)

It always cracks me up that parents are expected to never refer to their kid's team using the plural pronoun despite the fact that they are spending a great deal of time and money supporting their kid, the kid's team and the kid's club.

Just shout up dad (or mom) and give us your money.

Parents should be seen (with a checkbook in hand), but not heard.

Yes WE. I happened to be walking back from the concession stand with another father. Stream of consciousness typing, you know what I mean s-head?

Oh...yes. Played hockey for Colgate while you were staring at Brinkleys poster in the middle of the night.
"we did show up to play..."
        "we took them lightly..."

Which part of the field were "we" playing on?

More like stream of "sub-conciousness typing" -- one too make pucks to the head perhaps?!?
        Actually, full frontal lobotomy

U15 Girls: Shocked by this, but Scorpions deserved to win. They played deep to contain the Stars top strikers, and caught out all the through balls and balls over the top. Someone mentioned that the Stars missed chances, and they did, but so did the Scorpions, particularly when the Nat team player missed a rare simple chance. Stars had quality everywhere but on their left side of their defense. Scorpions scored both goals on this side. Stars failed to create anything with the deep dropping Scorpions defense. Their goal was messy on a corner that nobody touched but should have easily been handled by the inexperienced Scorps keeper.

The way it was told to me by someone involved with the Stars, when the Stars excellent central defender was injured and out for the season they were forced to move an outside defender to the middle and move a midfielder to defense. Scorps must have known this and sought to exploit it.

What rubbish, since the change was made the team has won the region 1 league and done very well in the Red Bull League. As someone said Stars just where not focused enough for this game. Take nothing away from Scorps but I think many are reading way to much into this loss for Stars.

new to the discussion, but I must note that it has nothing to do with grammar. It's the mentality that you are the one playing, pure and simple, that you are the one actually on the team. I agree with the poster that jumped on you for this. You need perspective.

Nothing to do with mentality but zipperheads like you nazi's policing everyone and everything.

You should step back and see how much of a clown you sound like.

Personally, I think the whole "I" v. "we" is a tempest in a pot of tea. I've heard people use "we" in many contexts where those using it weren't "on the team." Examples: When I was in college, people always asked, "Did we win?" when referring to the school's teams. People often say it with respect to the Red Sox or other teams they root for. People who work for sports teams (for example selling tickets) will refer to whether "we" win even though they have very little to do with the team.

Parents are obviously not members of their children's teams. However, they are much closer to those teams than many others who use "we." Parents drive the team, arrange the logistics, feed the players, provide first aid to the injured, and pay the bills. They perform almost all the functions that owners of professional teams do. If the Celtics win tonight, Wyc Grousbeck will rightfully say "we won," and so will the Celtics' trainers, bus drivers, and clubhouse attendants. I think parents who do likewise should be given a pass.

Speaking of clowns....only a clowm would use a term like zipperhead and nazi to make their point. How infantile.

Of course they knew it, but why weren't they able to exploit it earlier in the season?
