Are they actually going to play soccer at these schools? Just because they are "going" doesn't mean it's for soccer, never mind a scholarship. And for those that got a scholarship, what does that mean in terms of actual $$$. It's nice to see these girls going to some great schools and it's likely soccer added to their resumes, but people should not conclude that playing for this club, or any other for that matter, is equivalent to a full ride or that the players even intend to play soccer once they get there.

Re: CRU "Blue Thunder" College Choices

I think that the statement made that all the girls from the Bolts-Kerr team are playing in college and receiving scholarships is misleading. If you go to the individual college websites, many of the girls are not even mentioned in the press releases.

So that accounts for Harvard and Yale. What about the rest?

What does a "scholarship" mean in terms of dollars? Can someone be honest on this subject?

Are you serious, can you just be glad for the girls or are you just so jaded that you can't be proud! You better look into yourselves and wonder what all the "Hate" is about. You people just suck--just be glad and proud of the girls no matter what the financial rewards are. Are you so small in mind that you can't just say "well done ladies" or are you just so small minded that you have to ridiucule everything or maybe you will say that I didn't spell everything correctly. Get a freakin life people and quit living your lives through others. You are a pitiful bunch when you can't even say, congrats to all the girls going to further their education whether it is through academics or athletics, no matter if they are getting any monies or not.

It doesn't matter what club they play on, just be proud of the girls accomplishments! I will say, Good Luck Ladies and well done!!

I think an honest question was asked though perhaps a little more tact could have been used.

The question is are all the girls getting scholarships and an offer to make the team? No hate hear it is important to understand where scholarships are awarded and playing time. That's it.

Re: CRU "Blue Thunder" College Choices

whoa... slow down, you are reacting quite defensively. I don't think anyone is questioning or down playing the accomplishments of these girls going to some excellent colleges. But this is a soccer forum, and there are people who haven't any experience in this area who are wondering about college $$ when it comes to soccer scholarships.

I would urge some of those asking to read some of the other threads about college scholarship money --most also have some good articles or websites referenced. The most general answer is that it varies! No actual athletic scholarships for Ivies or D3 schools, and as for the rest, most likely partial if at all. Soccer scholarships are very hard to come by. If a player gets a few thousand dollars a year, that might be the most realistic expectation for most players. Most may get some combination of athletic, academic and/or financial aid. The most elite national team players will get full rides to D1 schools. Beyond that, it depends on where you want to go for academics -- certainly a player may get more soccer money from a lesser known or perhaps less elite school academically.

At the end of the day, it's none of our business how much money these players get for attending college, whether or not they are playing soccer!! They've chosen the college that is best for them.
