Sigh. Congrats to each and every one of these kids for their respective college choices, but let's be real - the word 'commitment' is being used very loosely in this thread. We'll see who ends up playing in the fall.

Congratulations to all these players and their college choices! Why the bashing of the previously mentioned groups of players and whether or not "who ends up playing in the fall"?
Do you honesly believe of the 30+ players already listed in this TS thread from the HS Class of 2011 that a majority won't be on a collegiate roster next fall? Based upon their college destinations I would expect 90+% to be on rosters next Fall, and my + or - 10% factor is solely based on a random % of "you never know what can happen betweeen now and then and who shows up physically ready strength/fitness level for the college game". That said good luck to all the boys from the HS Class of 2011.

Correction. A good number of the choices appear to be about academics (prestige?), but a not insignificant number appear to be about soccer (rightly or wrongly). It is true that most likely none of them will be pros.

The "list," which will grow to 65-75 (and over 100 if counting off-the-radar D3s where non-club players do play) no doubt rankles some because the exclusivity/selectivity desired is lacking. In that vein, what do players at Williams, Middlebury, Susquehanna, Framingham State, and Becker have in common? They're all D3 players.

Hopefully they will enjoy the remainder of their senior year and also enjoy the 4 years of college both on the pitch and off before they enter the real world.

HS soccer only and that lands them on a roster? The more I read this, the more I think the posts are about where a student is going to college, not about where a player is going to college to play. Congrats for getting into your school of choice.

The CCHS coach is a bates alum and tries to funnel as man players as he can into that program. As for the emory player, he was being recruited from soccer and track and is one hell of an athlete. Watched him shut down DeNormandie for two games this year.

You missed my point, which is that some on here wished for a list of about 15 players, all of whom would be from the 2 DAP teams. Obviously that is not the case. I also support those that chose mainly based on academics. Those who choose mainly based on the sport may find themselves disillusioned down the road. And it is true that usually you do not find postings about players for the regional state schools, Lasell, New England College where non-club players often play.

Makes perfect sense to me. Williams is one of the hardest schools in the nation for admittance. We hope soccer can help our child gain acceptance into a school he would not have had the chance without a "hook"... That said, 8 would give anything to have my child attend Williams. I clearly know why these talented kids decided on Williams!!!

Sorry... Ment to say.."I would give anything"... I wouldn't want to be made fun of like the 30something soccer player from Dartmouth!! I must say I do read a lot of jealousy in these posts! I'm sure they are from parents who have not been through the college process...
