Disappointing that there is only 4 Verbals from MA out of app 450 total kids on ESPN Rise, less than 1%, especially since one is a 2010 holdover. I'll bet there are a few more to come, which may or may not hit ESPN Rise.
These are only the people who arrogantly choose to alert the universe of their decision on where to go to college.

Some are just bypassing the annoyance of having people like you debate and question their decisions when you know absolutely nothing about what factors led them to that decision, and what was important to them.

There are more than this committed to play at D1 schools that have decided that the world can get along just fine without knowing where they've chosen to go to college.

Some players report their commitments to ESPN because the coaches of the schools to which they have committed have asked them to do so. If your interpretation is that they have "arrogantly chosen to alert the universe", I think it says more about you than the players.

highly doubt there are any d1 commits in mass that aren't listed. the commitments are listed to protect the players from other coaches. by announcing a commitment, other coaches who were recruiting that player have to back off and respect the decision. they can only recruit the player if he/she decommits. stop being a bitter paretn just bcause little Johny didn't get a d1 scholarship and others did.

There are over 450 "arrogant kids" that have alerted the universe, including most of the kids at top schools. Having dealt with that before, one key to a verbal commit is to have no further contact with other schools wrt recruitment. If they don't know you're locked up, you keep getting contacted. The list provides a useful service to other coaches as to who is left this time of year. In my experience the school actually provides the name.

You are right, but I am sure that will not stop the bashing from the bitter, disappointed parents who claim to have no ax to grind!

Not quite, Bub. If a school confirms the committment, ESPN puts a little star next to it. These are all posted at the request of players and families.

Hmmm....I thought verbal committments weren't binding. What protection is needed?

I don't see a star anywhere on the list, am I missing something?

                        Yeah that's blatantly false

That's because a school hasn't confirmed it yet. See the note from the 2010 class:

                          2010 Men's Soccer NCAA
                          Division I college commitments
We have confirmed the Class of 2010 verbal commitments listed below, and we are seeking your help. Athletes, parents, coaches -- if you know of a boys' soccer verbal commitment from the Class of 2010 that is not listed below, e-mail Sheldon.Shealer@espn.com. We will update as frequently as we receive commitments.

An asterisk indicates the player's signing has been confirmed by the university.

Must be tough to be a blatant idiot. See the post above.

Great. And over 10 million people in the USA smoke marijuana. Does that mean you'll soon be sparking up a bone?

I love the "everyone else is doing it, so I'll do it too" argument. That makes you a sheep. BAAAAAAAAAA

So you're citing the outdated 2010 page to make a point about the 2011 commitments? I'm amazed you can even figure out how to turn on your computer
