And he didn't loose his scholarship which says a lot for the NU program in general.

Oh Great! Do all the sports programs at NEU do this? No wonder the tuition is so friggin expensive $$$$$$$$$$

      * One of the top players in the State to come out of Attleboro. Former Revolution Player Of The Year!!!! Cut
      * The BEST player to come out of Newton in the last 5 years and former New England Revolution DAP player. Cut during per- season!!!! Parent! READ THIS SEVERAL TIMES!!!! A highly recruited DAP player cut during pre-season of his freshman year!!!
To the parents of this former (very small) player who keep putting this post up, I am begging you, please do not keep saying he was the best player to come out of Newton. You really should let go and seek help

Sad fact is that college sports is mainly a bad enterprise. The schools do it for revenue (because athletic programs bring in students, not just attendance and television fees), and coaches get way more space to treat students however they like than any other employee.
The parents and players drink this KoolAid. So, if the purpose of college sports is to win, you dump the junior if there's a better freshmen. Bring in 12 freshmen and cut most of them. Well, college shouldn't be operating like pro club. Playing a sport should be good part of the educational experience, and if its not, its basically a bad thing done for the wrong reasons.

He lists at 5'6 and 130 pounds. Probably shorter and lighter in reality. Unless he was Messi, which he was not, he probably could not stand up to the physical play of D1. Case closed. Probably should never have been recruited in the first place.

Going in with the right attitude is key - play your hardest each and every day. If it works out, great. If it doesn't it was a good experience and life moves on. Those who go in with stars in their eyes may end up very disappointed.

True, he was a great player, but definitely an exception. And the greatest player from Newton was....really not ever a player. So in his case, case closed.

Whatever happened....point being he was on the NU team then quickly wasn't. Fits with the thread narrative that things don't always work out. So you better like the school or have a backup plan in case you want to transfer. Since the NU club team has 6-7 former varsity players I guess they all wanted to stay. But if you're already going into junior year and get cut then you have even fewer choices. At least a freshman has a better chance to find a spot on another squad if they want.

I have never heard of a recruited player cut during preseason? Why not red shirt? NU is a five year undergrad school.

Then do some homework. It happens all the time. No one is guaranteed anything in College Soccer, not five years, not four years, not one year.

Exactly. Anything can happen and does. Just go in with eyes wide open and always work your azz off - next year the coach will be interested in the next shiny new object
