Re: Multiple Teams from Same Club In State Cup

The draws are the draws. Teams from the larger clubs face each other all the time. Don't be paranoid!

It's a question of size for sure, but also a question of Club philosophy.

MPS could form A teams, and quickly field a top 5 team at every age group. Instead they have methodically expanded to field a couple A-, B+ teams. My guess, and it is a guess as I have no inside information, is that should the numbers and talent warrant, they'd form MPS Western Mass or MPS North Shore squads.

It's numbers coupled with almost year round, consistent training that has allowed many of their teams and players to improve.

For example - last year two Stars teams played each other in the challenge matches - I can't remember the age group. This year it happened again at GU13.

Any club ever have 3 teams in the RR?

Stars U15 had an outside chance until the C team lost in the 2nd round.

Re: Multiple Teams from Same Club In State Cup

In BU14 MPS won the #7 and #8 seeds in Challenge games last week. #7 Crusaders started in the 17 spot and Bulldogs won their way up from #24. Heck of an accomplishment by both teams, congratulations to both of them.

Also to the Aztecs, who now sit 5th, having started as the 13 seed. All three of these teams are generally characterized as developers, rather than as recruiters. A poster in the BU14 thread pointed out that these three teams (as well as NSU, which saw a number of last year's players depart and was forced into recruiting) have played relatively few games this spring compared to the higher seeds:

              seed team 08GP [combined record]
              1 Expo's 7 [7-0-0]
              2 Puma 17 [8-7-2]
              3 Bolts 10 [6-3-1]
              4 WU 6 [2-3-1]
              5 Aztec 10 [6-3-1]
              6 NSU 7 [1-5-1]
              7 Crusaders 8 [3-3-2]
              8 Bulldogs 6 [4-1-1]

              1-4 combined: 40 [23-13-4]
              5-8 combined: 31 [14-12-5]

Here's the guy's original post: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=14478&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=22 5 (p16) it was on April 14, 3:49 pm - at that point there were still 12 teams in the hunt. Time (and survival) seems to have evened the experience level out a bit since then.

So, as offside put it, "It's numbers coupled with almost year round, consistent training that has allowed many of their teams and players to improve." and that brought them into the RR, do you think the ("big") game experience will become more of a factor going on?

Why do they let players play up? Wouldn't they have even stronger teams if they played every player at age appropriate? that doesn't make sense to me.
Oh brother! This could open a hornets nest.

Playing players up instead of age appropriate describes the difference between Stars and Scorpions. Doesn't seem to have hurt the Stars. Does seem to have hurt the Scorpions.

How did allowing players to play up hurt the Scorpions?

They let the older NT player play up.

It shouldnt except for when those players approach the point where they have to play age appropriate as their older teamates are off to college.

The original poster is not asking whether a Club has multiple teams at different age groups, which many Clubs acheive regularly, but whether a single Club has ever had multiple teams in the same age group.

MPS, rather than combining their best players and creating MPS A and B teams, which is the path many large clubs pursue, has created equal teams. MPS did] have A and B teams in same age groups; one premier, and the other called development. The development teams are typically listed as "B."

It is not conspiracy; instead their luck. Because those 2 teams met, they have at least one team competing in RR.
BTW, who won that game: Crusaders or Renegades?

                                You are missing the point.

There are 2 "A" or "Premier" teams for both boys and girls so at each age group there are 4 premier teams. the original post meant combining just the Premier teams into and A and B
