Multiple Teams from Same Club In State Cup

A quote in the Girl's State Cup thread got me thinking.

With another year of consistent coaching, MPS could easily have two U15 girls teams in the elite 8, just as they have two U14 boys teams qualified this year.

Other than U15 Stars United and Rovers (previously U14 Bolts) is there another club that has placed two teams in the SC round robin?

How many Clubs have placed multiple clubs in the State Cup round robin? Has this happened often? Have teams ever met each other in the knockout round?

Does the fact MPS is now relatively successful at U14 with both their boy's and girl's teams validate their Club structure?

As much as many enjoy bashing them, it seems they are doing something right.

Isn't this more a measure of club size rather than of excellent "development"? What happens if you divide the number of RR teams by the number of teams a club enters? Also, if you measure the number of teams in the finals, semi-finals or champions you might get a different picture.

2 years ago, the Bolts had a boys team in virtually every state cup final. I thing the stars girls are similarly represented every year.

The Stars have at least one team in the RR at every age group U13-U17 on the girls side. MPS has a chance to have a team in all but U15 on the girls side.

The original poster is not asking whether a Club has multiple teams at different age groups, which many Clubs acheive regularly, but whether a single Club has ever had multiple teams in the same age group.

MPS, rather than combining their best players and creating MPS A and B teams, which is the path many large clubs pursue, has created equal teams. This year the MPS U14 Crusaders and Bulldogs are in the final 8, and if the MPS U14 Renegades and Lady Crusaders had not met in the final elimination round, might have done so with their girl's as well.

Bolts had 2 U17 girls teams in last year. Both were actually in the same bracket so had to play one another. One of the teams had formerly been with Spirit and came to the Bolts with Okaroh after the TVE/ Spirit merge.

If the U14 Crusaders and Renegades had not faced each other, MPS could have had 1/4 of the final U14 SC RR teams, so it is a fair question guest asks whether the MPS strategy is bearing fruit.

Other clubs had teams that played each other in the challenge matches last year as well.

Please! MPS has 34 teams in MASC. Numbers along give this a great chance of happening.

Let me ask again. Isn't this a measure of club size rather than club "quality". There is no question MPS is the largest club in Mass so by that indicator they are definitely the most successful.

Not only did they make the round robin but Inter had an actual State Cup final between two boys teams in the same age group (U13 or U14) about 5 years ago when they dominated boys soccer in Mass and before they were gutted by mass defections to Bolts. Quite an achievement.

Why do they let players play up? Wouldn't they have even stronger teams if they played every player at age appropriate? that doesn't make sense to me.

MPS had the 17 girls Boston versus Cape facing off last night too for a spot in round robin.... is this another example of in another seeding arrangement there might have been two MPS teams there? It seems to have happened a lot with MPS, is there a conspiracy :D ?

Everyone is assuming if the draws were different that 2 MPS teams would have made the RR. It's also possible that neither would have made it.
