      Re: 12s v 13s

The 12s will have more players from Mass make the Region 1 and national teams than the 13's.
Its just a matter of time

The strongest U13 in the Mass. ODP program plays for the U15 ODP pool. She is stronger than any U12/13 in the current U13 pool. A special few will make the national pool and they are very few and far between. Making the regional pool the first year does not mean all that much. Lots of players make it at that level and never make it again.

          Re: 12s v 13s

there is one very strong u12 player who probably would be among the better players at u13 too, but she is not playing for any team that would have a prayer of beating or really staying on the field with the division 1 U13 teams.

i believe the stars u12 team could compete with many of the u13 d1 teams, but probably not scorpions u13.

the internal club people could probably answer better. I'm sure the 13 scorpions and stars have each played against their u12 counterparts. any answers?

Just keep in mind that you do not want your child peaking at 12 or 13.

One strong individual player (and the type who only plays as an individual) is not guaranteed success at 15, 16, and beyond. A U12,U13 player who stands out in small-sided games with great footwork tends to peak earlier and struggles to translate this to the big field. Obviously this not going to happen to a child who truly has it. Having seen the pool of players at ODP for 13 and 14, there is no such player. There are some good players, but no one who is headed for the national team.

              Re: 12s v 13s

There are always some special players at every age group who would be considered in the top of the next age group. There are a number of strong U13s playing U13, several strong U13s playing U14, and at least two playing U15. There are some strong U11s who could be top players at U12 as well. Having a player or even a group of players within an age group who could be impact players at the next age group doesn't mean that one age group is stronger than the next. It's difficult to compare age groups in any case. There are kids at every age group who are at one of two ODP years. For example, there are quite a few, maybe 50%, U13s on the top U14 ODP team. Do the U13 parents come on here and suggest that the U13s are stronger than the U14s. No. They have been around long enough to know that there are a lot of strong players as well as some special players both in state and within the region as well as some very talented players who don't participate in ODP.
