I will agree with these rankings but I still think the Scorpions are better than most of you think. Score only shows one part of the game. I know the object is to score but you also have to look at style of play, keeper, playing time and many other factors. The Scorpions have many talented high end players that have not figured out how to play together yet due to being only together since the fall. They currently have a keeper by committee that never works and they play almost equal playing time. I am not saying they are currently better than the teams listed but they will be very competitive in 2 or 3 years if they continue to develop chemistry. I would not write them off or underestimate them like most of you have done. The only game they did not follow this plan was in the CFC tournament when they played Long Island in the finals. They played their best keeper currently and their stronger players a bit more 60/40. This was a very good game back and forth.

I will not argue that NEFC BB is the best team currently at this age. Will playing up hurt or help them in the long run, time will tell. I also think the Stars are a close second. I think their decision to stay and play 8 V 8 will prove to pay off in the future. NEFC NB team is very good team and will give most teams a good fight. SSS is a very physical aggressive team that works hard and has some very skilled players. Western United is also a very good team and should be in the blue division this year. They were in a very difficult fall division but will not matter next year in NEP. The question is will SSS still stay strong and competitive in a week MAPLE league next year at U12. All the strong teams at this age will be playing NEP like most of the other age groups for the girls. I hope that all these teams are able to play in the Andre Cup this spring and we can finally see them all play each other. It is almost like they are avoiding each other on purpose.

    1) NEFC BB until beaten by one of these other teams
    2) Stars
    3) NEFC NB, Western United, SSS and Scorpions all a close third. All teams can win on any given day.

Believe it or not the Western v SSS game was a very good game. Difference was in the finishing. Western did not finish well at all and SSS finished every opportunity. Very good game though believe it not after watching the game and knowing the score I still think western is the better team as they created more scoring chances just could not put anything on net. SSS did very well to finish all chances!

Very well thought out post. You are way too Rational to be a scorpion parent. I happen to agree that scorpions are very much in the mix. Very well coached and seem to be improving. They need a playmaker or two in the middle to go to the next level. Should be a good year and hopefully they all play in a couple of the same tournaments.

I was at the SSS and western game and I guess I have a different view. Western scored their only goal on a breakaway and had very little pressure. SSS missed several opportunities or it would have been 8-1. It could have been an off day for western as the coach seemed mystified by the lack of execution. I heard him ask several girls if they wanted to play or not. This game was not close and on this day at least western was not the better team. I also overheard the western coach boasting that they would easily beat nefc kickers in the finals because they have beaten them the last 4 times they have played them. It seems that you think your team is better than they are.

not sure what the coach said but that is untrue. Boasting not his style. Dissappointed on how flat they came out more likely. I also find it hard to believe that was said because the two teams have played a few times and NEFC has won more than lost to Western. I also know that Western played shorthanded in this tournament. Not an excuse because I do think that they were outplayed by SSS for whatever reason but def not by the extent that you mention. I think the truth may lie somewhere inbetween these 2 views. I was impressed with the pace of the SSS team and showed some good skill. Well done!

Crusaders beat sssu10 elite 1-0. This was the only chance for either of these teams to get a win in the blue division. Crusaders are a big team for their age but not as skilled as SSS but on a smaller field their size and strength was enough to pull out the win.

Maybe coach is not boastful but he was very confident that he would win against nefc. I don't hold that against him btw. I hope my coach thinks he's going to win every game as well. I think sometimes games just get away from you and this might have been the case. SSS was also missing 2 of their top players. You play with what you have and let the chips fall where they may. In this tournament nefc earned the title. Congrats to all the teams. It was very competitive weekend. I wish it wasn't brutally cold with 30 mph winds but that's me. The kids dealt with this much better than us old folks.

According to MAPLE website, NEFC BB and SSS will be seeded as though they are in U11 Blue for purposes of KC Andre. So it appears you will get your wish.

NEFC and SSS will be lumped in with the top six from Blue, meaning that the bottom two from Blue will be involved in playdown games where they wouldn't otherwise (see workings of the boys side tourney for comparison). Not that big a deal I suppose, just a nice accomodation for the two teams that are playing up at U12 this spring.

Agree that SSS will likely dominate weakened MAPLE next fall. I am always impressed with what I see from SSS girls. They always play tough and display good skill development in a game setting.

Scorpions are a work in progress. Won't argue they made a strong run last fall. Would have found out more if last weeks game against FC Stars had been played. As you point out, GK can be an issue for any team until they either land or develop a permanent starter. I think you will find that the top teams have generally sorted this out, and the next tier are still working on it.

                  Week 2 predictions:

Stars D over PASA - class of Blue div. too much for the Iberians
Scorpions over Stars C - Scorps out-athlete Athletic
Classics over Crusaders - NH at home, Crusaders long ride home.
NEFC over SSS - SSS will battle, but fall.

                  Comment

If the games go ahead.....no snow in the forecast, right? :)

Stars D vs PASA- close game, but Stars to win 3-2
                    Scorps vs Stars C - Tie 2-2
NEFC vs SSS - SSS to battle, but lose 3-1
Classics vs Crusaders - NH to win 3-1

Best of luck to all teams involved!

SSS is not playing NEFC this weekend. Select's U11 Elite is in the U12 Purple division.
Looking at last week's scores, they beat Duxbury United easily. Keep in mind, this was Select U11 Elite's first game playing 11 v 11. Guess they've transisitioned okay, but then again, is the Purple division anything to speak of?

Select U10's are playing up at U11 in Blue. That's the SSS team being mentioned above. They play NEFC N on Sunday.

...and no, U12 purple is nothing to speak of.

Nep Nep Nep Nep... Never done anything to date.. Next year we will see but so far..

Classics over crusaders 3-0 two very big teams but crusaders don't have enough scoring to keep pace.

Stars D over pasa 2-0 not as close as score would indicate. Pasa better defensively but not enough to carry the day

nefc over SSS 3-0. SSS may not score a goal the entire season. If you can't score against crusaders your in for a long year

Scorps over stars c 4-2. Just think the scorpions will do enough to win. Neither team great defensively so should be lots of chances. I'm betting scorps convert a little better this week

                              Just my opinion

Good luck to all this weekend

I agree - wake up call for SSS U10's playing up. Can't believe they couldn't even score 1 goal against the Crusaders. They need to learn how to pass the ball.
