Re: FCGB Names New Director of Girls Programs

Kerry O'Malley- H.S. All-American, State Player of the Year, 2002 ODP National pool. Big East Rookie of the year, Providence college 2003, St bonaventure.
Would seem that O'Malley was at PC while Tracey Kerr was coaching there and then transferred to St. Bonaventure.

The Revs did it. And several boys clubs in MA tried to do it.

The Revs have a girls' program?

How, exactly, are the Bolts caught in a vise because of the Revs? Have a look around the country and tell me what other MLS DAP put a competing DAP out of business?

This won't make you happy, but the Bolts will be just fine, despite your enthusiasm for their demise.
Check out the Revs Academy thread over on The Boring Forum. Someone just posted the Revs' U16 and U18 rosters, and apparently there are a number of former Bolts players on them.

BTW, if I really wanted the Bolts to fail, I wouldn't be offering so much good advice, would I? ;)

A "Number" of former Bolts players? Hardly. Two younger kids that were with the club last year. A few others that have been with other clubs since.

With advice like yours, who needs bashing?

Are you serious? You would consider the playing and coaching experience of Prata and Apajee on the same level as Pfeifer, O'Malley and M. Colwell? Would you consider the men who are coaching the Bolts DAP on the same level as these young women? I certainly wouldn't. It's great that they are being given the chance to coach, but they lack the experience needed to coach top level players.

As long as the Bolts defenders take that attitude, then the club should expect to see a continual decline. When they can accept the responsibility for the direction of the club, both good and bad, then we may see a turn around.

What's wrong with my advice? A DOC who actually supervises other coaches and attends their practices and games. Coaches who as a matter of policy coach teams no less and no more than two years, to prevent empire-building and favoritism. Fielding teams in all age groups no matter what. If there's a better way to build the girls' side, I'd like to hear it. The current way obviously didn't work.

Why try to defend the indefensible? Do you want John Willett to be making the same speech at tryouts for the next 10 years?

If they weren't good coaches in their own right, you'd have a point. But all three were among the best coaches MA youth players have had the opportunity to be coached by, no matter what their last name.
"among the best coaches in MA youth"? That, I must say it quite an opinion. Should be ignored but is so far from the truth. TK is nowhere close to one of the best. Take a poll of ex-Providence players, ex Bolts players and current Bolts players and you will get quite a different opinion of her coaching abilities.

What club teams and club players have Prata or Apajee developed? ODP doesn't count, because ODP doesn't develop players- clubs do. Apajee has been focused on recreational community camps while at the Revs.

Until US Soccer announces whether they want to choose girls clubs on their own merit, or administrate/appoint DAP clubs that have both girls & boys DAP teams, then there's no reason to get all hot under the collar. They could go either way, and you can make arguments for either case.

Anonymous guest made a good point to anonymous guest. The rising U15 Bolts will be negatively impacted by losing two national pool players to the Revs. Not the end of the world, but certainly a challenge for FCGB.

Take a poll? No need, Bub. My daughter played for her. Her record speaks for itself. Whether you like her or not. Made my daughter and her teammates significantly better payers. Provided exposure to colleges she would not have gotten on another club.

You are a parent but your vote can count anyway. Take the poll I will bet my house on it. Nepotism at its best

Says you. The day they run their club based on what an anonymous guest basghes them for in a forum is the day they decline. Fortunately, they have resisted this foolishness.

Yes, and we can see where that got them. How many D1 clubs do they have now on the girls' side?

Oh, wait a minute--you're just throwing gasoline on the fire, aren't you? ;)
