Sometimes the rankings are skewed... they arent gospel... but they arent as useless as this poster states. Over time they tend to make a pretty safe delineation between the cream and the rest.

GotSoccer makes it easy to use additional information in addition to the straight rankings. All games played are linked to each team.

Mathmans are done differently, more accurately and with a better plan in my opinion, and are of course far better than picking names from a hat.

NationalSoccerRanking.com is soetimes a total mess.

Didn't that team move to the Stars a couple of years ago?

Yes, but as we all know all soccer development only occurs with a player's first club. If you stay with that club your development can continue, but if you leave then you are simply a recruit and the new club is barred from taking any credit for you or your team's achievements.

But we're talking about TD's club rankings and they suck.

            For example:
If a player played for Boston United from U11-U15 then switched clubs to FC MASS for U16 and older, the player would forever be remembered as a Mass FC kid. When in reality he was developed by Boston Utd. and grew into the player he/she is today because of Boston Utd.
Do you mean like Jaime Gilbert, who played U12-U16 for Spirit of Massachusetts but is remembered as a notable Stars alum? But then, I don't think Spirit is around anymore.

U15s lose another and have yet to score a goal this season. U16s also lose again and remain winless. When will these teams with top flight college coaches turn things around?

Bazooka champs lost 2-1 to Selects. Mewis was not there, but the game was as close as the score suggests. Either she is the whole team and they are not dominant without her, or the Bolts are better at least at that age group then anyone realizes. Not sure what is going on with the younger teams but since the girls side and their reputation was pretty low during tryouts I'm thinking they can only play with what they have, no matter who the coach is. Even Sir Alex Ferguson would not be able to make water into wine. It will just be hard to get more interest at tryouts for next year if the teams are sinking in level of play.

BIG LIFT FOR BOLTS GIRLS SIDE! Now let's hear from all the naysayers.

                  Breakers, Bolts Team Up
Local Youth Club to Joing Forces with WPS Side
                  May 4, 2009
BOSTON, MA — The Boston Breakers and the local youth club FC Greater Boston Bolts are teaming up to provide new opportunities to young soccer players in Massachusetts.

As part of the agreement, Breakers players will be present at Bolts’ tryouts and will instruct players at FCGB Soccer School Positional Clinics and Junior Academy. Breakers coaches & players will also assist the Bolts coaching staff in training sessions.

"We are very excited to be affiliated with the Boston Breakers,” said Bolts President Elliot Pratt. “This new partnership will enable our club to reach the next level on skill development, player participation, and overall club exposure.”

In addition, the Breakers will host a doubleheader at Harvard Stadium that will feature a Bolts youth match before a Breakers regular season WPS contest.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Breakers,” said Brian Ainscough, FC Greater Boston’s Director of Coaching. “This is a great opportunity for the girls in our club to be trained by women playing at the highest level. The Breakers players will be excellent role models for all the Bolts girls. FC Greater Boston has had a long history of success in developing girl soccer players and we envision this partnership as an avenue to continue a high-level program recognized in the local, regional and national soccer landscape.”

Not sure about girls tryouts but if Heather Mitts is present you can count on a huge boys showing.

I have heard through the soccer grapevine that even before the Breaker's deal was announced, a few girls from the Stars "B" and "C" teams were considering coming to Bolts tryouts. Under the theory that it's better to play for a clubs top team than the 2nd or 3rd team. At the 12-15 age group, the better coaching should offset the lack of better game competition.

Here we go again. Pathetic that FCGB is reduced to spreading rumors to fan some interest. What has all the "better coaching" accomplished for the Bolts girls so far?

The bigger concern is that the Breakers are so disconnected from the Mass. Soccer scene that they would partner with a club that has maybe one side (U18) that will make the State Cup RR. What do they call the last player taken in the NFL draft? Mr. Irrelevent!!

What sometimes is forgotten is that the average soccer mom, and dad, are generally well educated, successful and pretty intellegent consumers. They are fully aware of the strengths and weaknesses of a specific program and won't be easily swayed because a group of pro soccer players are scheduled to sign some autographs at try-outs. Will the connection hurt the Bolts? Of course not; but to expect that players/parents will sign on to an inferior experience because of a corporate tie-in is pure lunacy. Its a never ending circle: You need good players to have successful results, you need successful results to get good players, those players are on other teams, so you need to provide a better product to lure those players to your club, your club needs to have succesful results to help lure those players, you need good players to have successful results... and the band plays on. There is obvious hope for the Bolts to rebuild at the younger ages, this may be where the cooperation with the Breakers can help most but I wouldn't expect a great deal of support from the Breakers rank and file, unless they get paid extra to spend time with the Lil' Bolts. At about $15K a year you can only expect the players to do so much grunt work to build the brand. Eventually the need to eat supercedes the desire to do grass-roots volunteer coaching.
